Snow, Savannah, and NO School! A Feb 2010 TR! UPDATE marathon! New TR! Souvies! 3/6

That is so awesome how you pulled everything together so quickly including your ADRs. I can't wait to read more! And I'm looking forward to your upcoming Cruise TR and the June Pre-TR! popcorn::

It's still surreal to me that you guys did this! And incredibly cool. Did you pay for the drive down night to be assured of the early check in? How great that you could just get there and go straight to bed. :thumbsup2

And you leave Wednesday.:cool1:

OMG!!! What a wonderful way to enjoy some snowdays! Talk about making lemonaid out of lemons. I can't even count the number of times we have said "I wish I was in Disney" but to actualy say it and then go, WOW! I am so jealous :) Gotta love those APs. Usually I can only get two trips out of mine. This year we are doing three (May, November and April) so I'm excited

I read your christmas report and loved it, can't wait to hear how this trip went :)

I would have loved to do that. Dh and I were talking about doing that. If only we had ap.

I'm always trying to get Marc to go to Disney on a whim and I just can never convince him. Maybe you should give lessons. :rotfl2:

I so love the fact that you were able to pull it together and get in the car and goooooo!
Jennifer, you rock!

Waiting for the next update!

That is so awesome that you were able to just pick up and go! And even better that you were able to score some ADRs! Looking forward to more!

The boy has good taste! I like my waffles and pancakes with peanut butter too :thumbsup2

Ha! Yeah, me too... I just forgot to mention that

I'm still in shock that hubby went for it... he must be completely converted now!! :rotfl:

How surreal... to just jump in the car and GO!!

Kathy

YES, I know -- frankly I think he was already thinking about it before I spoke it outloud! He isn't really converted. Just wants to milk this AP and TIW card for all its worth!!! :) Though I think he does really like it.... so much so that... OOPS... don't want to say everything QUITE yet... :rolleyes1

But yes, we just jumped in the car and WENT!

Aww thanks! It was a surprise, but the weather made it a great excuse to do something random and fun. I will be writing up another post tonight!

Hi, NO, actually we didn't pay for that night. Well actually we did to start. Meaning initially we were booked for Tue night at PO Riverside. AK had the room too, but it was more, so I was trying to be reasonable, and booked at POR... then when it became clear we were not going to get out before noon, my DH said change it from POR to AKL, and we will get there sometime around 4:30am anyhow, and maybe they will let us check in to a room, or we can stop before we get there. So we switched from POR (I think we both really wanted to stay at AKL), and I called the resort desk later that night, around 11pm, telling our story, and they said they would likely have a room. So sure enough, when we got there, they were willing to let us check in. So no we didn't pay extra, but we were lucky.

Hey! Gee thanks! It is a lemonade/lemon story for sure! I hope you get those visits in! :thumbsup2 It was just the fact that everything came together mind you -- the snow, days off, school off, AP discount, etc. We were lucky.

I would have loved to do that. Dh and I were talking about doing that. If only we had ap.

Well that was the trick for us, truly.

HA!!!! That would be funny!!!! :rotfl:

Oh I know WigD it was comical but a very memorable moment (well, morning!)

update coming! So I am going to say the same to you!!

Thanks! Yep, we got a few! It was a good thing, but not entirely necessary.

Awesome... I would love to do a spontaneous trip to WDW!!!!!!
Well it was a great surprise and great fun, too. Thanks Laura!

Great start to your adventure! I can't believe how spontaneous you guys were!

I can't wait to hear about your last minute ADRs!

So, though we were a bit more bundled up than normal, we were still ready to spend the day at the MK. And that is where we headed! Originally I had been able to make an ADR at Boma for breakfast, and we thought to go there, but then DH just felt we should get out for the day so instead we went to The Wave and had breakfast. On our way out of the resort I took these quick photos... the boys went up to the 5th floor. We were staying on the 4th so I got this photo from below... they are not perfect but fun!

When we got to The Wave, they seated us immediately, and DH and I each had omlettes with spinach and feta and tomatoes (came with a great potato dish) and the boys each ate mickey waffles. After breakfast I made a run to the coffee stand in the lobby, and we ventured on foot to the MK! The sun was out, it was chilly, but we were properly dressed, and ready for fun! My DH had to get a replacement pass so I sat with the boys while he took care of that. Here we are just inside!

Then we started our way into the park onto Main Street!

I am sure you can see DS7 is busy with his park map, and next distracted by something on his left!!

And then we made it to the view I was so excited to lay eyes on...

I tell you I was just.... giddy. So funny I was laughing out loud at the likelyhood that I was really in Disney, right then, instead of holding down the fort as the snow pounded our home... but if I pinched myself I'll never tell, because fortunately I was in the present enjoying a wonderful sunny day in the magic kingdom.

We headed into Tomorrowland, and DH went in search of FPs for Space, and I took both boys on Buzz... the wait said 15 minutes... We came out, and DH met us, so then we got in line again, all four of us and rode. After Buzz, we headed to the Tomorrowland Speedway and took a spin on that! It was also a shorter line, not bad, and the boys love this, so there it is!

After the speedway, DH took DS7 back to ride Space, and I took DS4 to ride Goofy's Barnstormer. We then met back near space, got some popcorn, and I took DS7 on Space and DH and DS4 went over to get FPs to ride BTMRR... We met them on the bridge near Splash (which was closed) and then we took a ride over to Tom Sawyer's Island.

While the boys raced around the fort, we sat on a bench and enjoyed the sun. Time passed lazily. So I guess it was appropriate that we were on Tom's island!

We made it back to use our FPs and then grab lunch. We went to Pecos Bills and enjoyed lunch there for the first time! Great burgers! We hit the shooting gallery, and then the Country Bear Jamboree! And with that, we went to Pirates. After POTC, we decided a nap was in order, and we all headed back to the car and back to the AKL... SO I had to laugh because in our zoned state, DH missed the quick turn to the AK, and we turned around and came back into the park -- which was fine b/c I got my gate photo!!!

Oh, and here are a few animals we saw that afternoon!

Back in the room, we took one sleeping child and put him on the top bunk -- he had passed out in the car!

The other fell asleep with his book an hour later... as did DH. I sat and DISed for a little, then nap was calling me too.... but not before I was able to change our 6:00 ADR for San Angel to 7:45. Which would allow everyone a good long nap! And everyone napped for sure, a couple hours or more, and that was perfect. I roused everyone and we got ready for our night at Epcot!

But you will have to wait for that one, I am afraid! Dinner and some fireworks tomorrow! :goodvibes

You perfectly described that giddy feeling you must have had! It sounds almost like the feeling you get when you play hooky from school ~ knowing that everyone else is there, and you're not! (not that I would know about that :rolleyes1) Freedom!

Sounds like such a fun day, and I looove nights after everyone's had a good nap! Can't wait to hear about yours. :)

What a great time! That blue sky was beautiful indeed, so what was the temp? It does look like your vests worked out very well!

I'll bet that nap was just what everyone needed!

Just thought I'd say HI! That is so cool that you got to run down. This is my plan since we are getting APs in May. But, being DVC, we may have a tougher time getting a room, but we'll see.

Sounds great. I am completly envious of your MK day. It is snowing here now. Not as hard as your storm surely but still what I woulden't give to run off to Disney.

I'm here!! This is so exciting!! I still can't believe that you up and decided to go to WDW!! Can't wait to read more! :goodvibes

Yeah, snow can be fun and pretty, but nothing beats a beautiful blue sky and seeing the castle!!! Looking forward to hearing about dinner!
