Snow, Savannah, and NO School! A Feb 2010 TR! UPDATE marathon! New TR! Souvies! 3/6

Did you happen to count how many steps it was to your room?:lmao:
Sounds like San Angel was a winner! Can't wait to try it this summer!
I think the puffy "chips" sound interesting!

I can't believe how close you are to that cruise! Woo hoo!

Yeay another update! I must admit that I am liking the back-to-back trips because we are getting so many updates beforehand.

Who knew the plastic bubble not only keeps out the bitter wind but also keeps all the squabbling on the inside??? :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: Oh, how I wish Chelsea and Connor could still ride in a stroller. :lmao:

Hmmm, the book nut in me wants to know what books the boys were looking at!

San Angel sounds lovely! I could use one of those awesome margaritas right about now! I will have to go look at a menu -- I am kind of bummed that the counter service is going to be closed this summer for a rehab -- we always eat there -- but I am thinking San Angel could fill in. I wonder if they have any items with mole sauce on the menu...

Sounds like dinner was great! Just reading about it was making me hungry! Maybe I'll have to re-think my ADR list for November...:rolleyes1

The margaritas sound delish!
That hallway is LONG

That was one of MANY LOOOOOOOOONG Hallways!!! :lmao: I didn't keep track of the # of steps like WigD but it was long!

Looks like a fun evening! I agree... San Angel has a great atmosphere, the margaritas are yummy (and kinda strong!) and the food has definitely improved! I'd definitely go back.

Still can't believe you are leaving for your cruise on Wed, you lucky duck! :)

It was a great fun evening! AND yes they are strong! We split that third one and well, we were very warm when we got back outside!!! ;)

YES I agree food is very tasty more TEX-MEX, maybe.... kinda reminds me a little of Santa Fe inspired food, but the plantains threw me for a loop! But very tasty..... we poked our nose in the tequila bar! It looked fun! I remember you did a tasting...:thumbsup2

Oh my goodness, can't believe your spur of the moment trip...so awesome. I came back to the trip reports looking for one I was reading Friday, and recognized your user name and clicked on it in a few pages, and saw pictures of the boys and knew I recognized those boys from the TR I had been reading, but this was not right something was wrong. Yeah, I'd been reading your Christmas trip and now you've already went again WOW. So lucky. Can't wait to hear more. Your boys are so cute too! I told DH about your spur of the moment trip, and all of the snow and he said he would've stayed for the snow. Of course, he wouldn't have a choice in it since this is busy time for him at work with a wrecking company.

Funny! It is somewhat dizzying when you go from one person's report to another! Let alone when it is two for the same person!!!! HA! Yes, two trips! Well we would have stayed for the snow, and we did the FIRST time  But after that, we wanted OUT!!

Did you happen to count how many steps it was to your room?:lmao:

I think the puffy "chips" sound interesting!

I can't believe how close you are to that cruise! Woo hoo!

NO, I am afraid I was too busy tearing after two little men with short legs!

San Angel was good! We liked it! I dunno, maybe it was what we decided on, but we were not disappointed. The puffy chips are fried flour tortilla strips I guess, they are a little odd, I prefer the regular corn kind. Still, hardly a deal breaker!!

Yeah, I can't believe it either!!!! I packed some today!

Bet it wasn't 460! :lmao:

Glad you enjoyed your dinner, I don't think I'll ever be brave enough to try San Angel, but being in that atmosphere is tempting!

NO not 460!!!

Well, you know it would be a great place to take a break from summer heat for an appetizer and drinks??!! It is more tex-mex, maybe - or more like the mexican food I remember when we were in Puerto Vallarta... so maybe it is targeting a region. Not sure.

Yeay another update! I must admit that I am liking the back-to-back trips because we are getting so many updates beforehand.

I know!! Isn't it funny!!!??? I think WigD is feeling the pressure of spring break, because she too is busy posting away this weekend!!!!

Who knew the plastic bubble not only keeps out the bitter wind but also keeps all the squabbling on the inside??? :lmao::rotfl::rotfl2: Oh, how I wish Chelsea and Connor could still ride in a stroller. :lmao:

Oh yes, it works brilliantly!!! Sadly I am afraid I will be forgoing the double Maclaren come summer... it is shameful that we kept it this year for our oldest, but I have to admit I felt safer knowing where he was and in crowds it was a godsend! BUT this trip we only used it twice, and we footed it everywhere else, and it was fine. The little one complained the most about walking, so we have a single we will bring this summer.

Hmmm, the book nut in me wants to know what books the boys were looking at!

San Angel sounds lovely! I could use one of those awesome margaritas right about now! The book was about Dios De las Muertos... (Think I got that right -- I had to go back in my post and correct all of my double "LL's" that were wrong so I am not the best speller in Spanish!!!! ) :rotfl: There was also a book that had all the pictures of the hand-painted animal figurines that they do in the pavillion lobby -- we have four at home already that I bought when we lived in New Mexico, I can't recall what the painting technique is called but the figurines..

There is a Mole dish, yes! The poblano chile relleno I had also included a mole-tasting sauce on top, I thought this was a great item on the menu... They have beefed up the booth that they have outside the pavillion just and FYI, and I think they have some good QS items still... we too are a great fan of the QS cantina! The margarita stand is still there! :)

Just the atmosphere alone makes me want to try San Angel and we simply marvelled at it while riding the Gran Fiesta last summer. Thanks for the details, I think we'll try it out. :thumbsup2

Oh darn, you are off on errands and I forgot to tell you what I found last week when we were at Target.
In the freezer section. Pretzels stuffed with pepperjack cheese....
I thought of someone in your household....

Just had to comment on this. Those pretzels sound yummy! I am definitely looking for those next time I'm at Target. :thumbsup2

So we all got a great nights sleep... when we got back to the room I must have given the boys a bath before bed, I can't recall doing it in the morning, because we did actually get up pretty early. We both used the exercise facility, and while we got ready the boys ate cereal and watched TV and watched the animals that morning as they made their way around in the sunshine. We headed off to DHS this morning, in search of FPs for Toy Story! I realize that we didn't make rope drop, because there were not gads of people crowding the entrance, there were lines, for sure!, but the first set of guests had already cleared the entrance! We went to TSM, then over to see Woody and Buzz... here we are... It is somewhat like a comedy of errors when it comes to taking pictures of my two squirrels... as I am sure you can tell...

SO in the end, DS4 decides he isn't ready to meet Buzz after all and chickens out.... so my lone DS7 got the shot.

So DH went then to get FPs for RNRC, and I took the boys to the Honey I Shrunk the Kid's Playground. This is a must for us...

After about 1/2 an hour here, we went to the Writer's Stop and got hot chocolate and coffee... the boys split a cookie, and I had my carrot cake cream cheese moon pie! Well that is what I call it!!! THAT WAS amazing. I could have eaten the whole thing right there. I didn't. I ate half. I saved the rest for the next morning! :thumbsup2

DH met us there, and he got coffee, so then we strolled over to Star Tours...

There was little line, so we rode that, and afterwards, we spent too much time and too much money in the Tatooine Traders... BUT this was the point when I realized our AP discount was still valid, and 20% is hard to beat!!! So with a big purchase made, sent to the resort for pickup, we played around on the cruiser...

Ready for lunch, we strolled over to Toluca Turkey Legs, where the boys had hotdogs and we had the turkey salads they have there. We rode TSM before we left, then decided to head back to the resort! They boys each picked an action figure out at the Tatooine Traders, so they were excited to play with them, and this would give me some time to enjoy the AKL! So content with our short time in DHS (since we would be back to use our FPs later that afternoon) we headed back to our savannah!

Coming up -- Brown Derby, TSMx2! Does DS7 make it on RNRC?

Your review of San Angel makes the food sound so much better. I have always wanted to eat there but have always heard bad reviews. I love the atmosphere inside of the Mexican Pavilion. It's always one of those things that stuck with me even after my visits as a child. I am definitely more interested to try San Angel after your review.

I didn't realize Toluca Turkey Legs had salads (isn't listed on allears). Is it a salad with Turkey on top of it or Turkey and Mayo like tuna or chicken salad? Either way it has to be better than the Turkey Legs. My kids and fiance are big fans of Turkey Legs but I can take them or leave them so the salad option is great for me!

It really does remind you of the Blue Bayou in there, I thought the same thing when we rode Donald last year. It is so so pretty! But hard to get a decent indoor shot for sure. Nice to hear such a good review, we rarely go wrong with Mexican either although the half of our group that ate at the Cantina was not at all impressed. Your dinner sounds yummy though!

I had a Puerto Rican lasagne a couple of weeks ago and they used plantains as the "noodles". It was AMAZING!

I might have to try that margarita at the new Cava which I do plan to hit this summer!

Too funny about kids running down the hall. Unless it's after bedtime or too early in the morning, I have to admit there are times when it's like fine...run, please, run!

Those halls look really REALLY long.

I can't believe I am just now finding this TR!!

Where have I been?!

I am so stinkin' jealous!!!! I so wish we could pack up on the spur of the moment and just head to Disney. What an awesome memory! I loved those spur of the moment trips to Grandma's as a kid, and to have a spur of the moment trip to Disney?!

Glad you enjoyed San Angel!! I think we must have eaten there on a bad night! It is really beautiful in there.

The picture of the boys on the bench in the hallway of AKL is right down from where we were, on the 4th floor. Loved the location close to the lobby!

Really enjoying sharing in your family's spontaneity and I can't wait for the cruise TR too!

Seeing those pictures of the boys brought a smile to my face this evening! What a great afternoon we had strolling around WS together!

It looked like they had a blast and I love the faces they were making along with their grins!
We are heading to Writer's Stop for one of those Carrot Cake creations in a couple of weeks! I'm very curious!

So anxious to hear about Brown Derby and RNR!

Your two little "squirrels" are just the cutest. You can see what a great time they were having. What did they think of this impromptu trip? I bet all the other kids in their classes were jealous when they returned from the snow days and said they went to WDW! :)

I'm loving this fast-paced TR!! :thumbsup2 Your boys are adorable!! :goodvibes

Tell me about the AP shopping discount... you mentioned that you were surprised to find it was still valid... Isn't it valid for the whole year? :confused3 I'm getting my first ever AP when we go in April so I want to plan accordingly.

What a great TR! So glad you got out of dodge before the next storm - I wanted to leave the Thursday night before the first snow, but my DH said no! :)

Looks like you're having a wonderful time - can't wait to hear more!
