You are all making me cold.
For this shot I could not grab my camera fast enough. I opened the shades on the back window this morning. We are getting a fresh covering of beautiful white stuff when I noticed a couple of flake stuck to the window. To my surprise I saw this tiny flake that had perfect form. It was only about 3-4 mm in diameter so I had to grab my Macro. Wait I don't have a Macro. So I grabbed my Lensbaby and added some of the Macro attachments. I was able to get in pretty close with those and snap a couple of shots. Luckily too, because I only got 5 shots when a gust of wind blew it away. Hope you enjoy.
PS . Thanks to my wife for not getting mad at me when I woke her up trying to grab my camera. She thought it was worth it after she saw the shot.

Nice shot, Doug!
Have you read or seen Kenneth Libbrecht's books/pictures of snowflakes?
http://www.its.caltech.edu/~atomic/snowcrystals/photo2/photo2.htm
Ken is a physic's professor at Caltech that has an area of research studying and taking pictures of snowflakes.
Your picture reminded me of Ken's work that I had read years ago.

Well for those of you who are stuck under a foot of snow and wishing they were in Florida...the grass is not always greener... It was 26° F this morning when I stepped outside to get the newspaper. Low and behold ICE on the roads.
See on Flickr
If this keeps up I might get to ice skate on my pool.
I hope it has warmed right up by 2/20! We are spending DD's Feb vaca & sweet 16 in Naples and Disney
Btw...its 11 here right now.
