Snow Days....Smow Days! I AM BACK 6/12

Loving your old lady flip flops! :thumbsup2

I might have to get me a pair! Your DD did a great job on your toes!

Keep us posted on how they're working for you! My concern would just be heat (sweating). So anxious to hear! :goodvibes:goodvibes:goodvibes

We have one dog, one cat, and dd has a fish.
On our last trip our dog, Pogo, stayed with my Mom. This time that's not an option :( We have heard of a lady who takes in animals and it sounds like she's got a really nice set-up. She was recommended to us by a couple who left their two dogs there, so we're gonna look into that for this time. My step mother comes in and feed our cat and the fish. Hopefully this time she'll water the plants as we lost two of them last time b/c she didn't bother as the drit looked dark so she thought it was wet enough....nevermind the plants we're drooping and ended up dried up and dead! :sad2:

Yes, I know what you mean about being stressed about the animals while you are going on vacation, I have so much anxiety about that! Although, my zoo is a lot smaller - just 1 giant orange male tabby cat, Nemo - 20 lbs. This is our first time leaving him and I'm so nervous. I call him special needs - he hates to be alone and the poor thing has a heart murmur and is afraid of everything. He really doesn't like anyone except my husband and I, and for whatever reason he doesn't like my dad! I know my parents & brothers will be good to him but it won't be the same as us being here. I thought about taking him to my parents house to stay for the week that way there would be more human interaction, but unfortunately they have a very rotten female kitten named Dory. Dory was supposed to be Nemo's friend for life but he didn't care for her in the slightest so my parents ended up taking her. I think being in a strange place and having to deal with a cat that he hates (Dory is absolutely adorable but she is the worst cat I've ever met) will stress him out more than being at his own house, alone.

2 dogs, 2 cats, & fish - that's a lot of arrangements you have to make to be on vacation!!

Your DD did a good job painting your toes. I love those sandals, they look comfy!

Those look nice, I hope they will work for you!! :)

Thanks for the compliment. They are super chunky for flip flops.

Thanks for the well wishes, but I am sad :sad2: to report that after a grocery shopping marathon yesterday BOTH of my heels were aching after wearing these expensive flip flops. I am really starting to panic about this upcoming trip. :scared: I am wondering if my meds may be causing this because I have noticed some swelling in my ankles. Maybe it is putting pressure on my feet. My mom told me she had done some exercises that her PT instructed her to do when she had heel pain such as picking up marbles with her toes rubbing the arch of her feet on tennis balls and such. It sounded like a bunch of hooey to me, but I am starting to get desperate now. I think I will try it, since a Podiatrist will probably have me try PT before he delves deeper into my issues anyway. :confused3 What could it hurt?

Hey Girl, I was wondering where you have been. I saw in another post your internet had been down. Glad to see you back on here!!!!
The lady that takes in animals sounds promising. Does she keep them in a kennel? How many animals does she keep at once?
Yes, that stinks that you lost 2 plants while on vacation. I will be in the same boat this summer. We have a garden by our front porch that I usually plant flowers. I usually put them in mid May and they need ample watering in the beginning to establish the root system. I feel like it may be asking too much for my mom and sis to do that along with taking care of the dogs, cats, feeding the fish and watering my garden when they come by. I will just pray that the week we are gone will be very rainy. I see a Rain Dance in my future right before we leave for Disney. :lmao: Maybe I can ask my DISfriends to Rain Dance as well while we are a way. That wouldn't be too much to ask. Do you think???? :rotfl2: I will be doing the NO Rain Dance while in Orlando, though.

Yes, leaving animals behind is VERY stressful! I LOVE :lovestruc the names Nemo and Dory. Too cute!!!
Awe poor kitty, having a heart murmur and being extra frightful is very worrying. That cannot be good for him.
I agree, that cats that are taken out of their home (comfort zone) makes them a lot more fearful. Will your parents be able to come by your home and care for him? I think even if he doesn't get the human contact as much, it will still be less stressful if they come to your home daily or every other day. At least he will be familiar territory, be able to sleep in his own spot and surrounded with you and your DH's smells. That should give him some comfort.
That is funny that you say that Dory is the worst cat you ever met. Another DISboard friend was just saying her cat was a devil cat. Dory may have a twin running around.....:rotfl2:

Super stressful leaving the furbabies and finbabies...:lmao: behind. My mom and sister are heaven sent, though. I don't know what I would do without them.

Thanks for the compliment on the painting of the toes. I painted her fingernails, too. It was like a mini spa day for us. :cloud9:

I'm sorry your old lady flip flops are a No-Go. But at least you're finding out NOW instead of at WDW where you have limited options. :thumbsup2

I have totally heard of the foot and tennis ball thing. Try it out and see how it helps! I haven't heard of marbles and toes, but try it as well.

Maybe do some yoga stretches for your calves. If the swelling is bad, tell a doctor. You may need to take a water pill or something (but they can interfere with prescrips, so check first). I really wish I could solve your issues for you ... but I think you're going to have to see a doctor if its persistent. :sad1:

Keep us posted okay??!!

:hug::hug:I hope you find a solution to your heal pain soon.

But if not, can I hook a cart to your ECV so you can give us a ride.
J/K :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

I wanted to update and say that we now have a home for Daisy dog while we are vacationing. With much water works:sad1: from me and the kiddos....:lmao: my wonderful sister has decided to take Daisy. She has two cats that are not used to dogs and one is particularly mean and not declawed. So I hope that sweet Daisy still has both eyeballs when we get back. My sis works long hours and will have to kennel her (for Daisy's own protection) while she is at work. My mom lives next door (.25 mile up the hill) so she will come down mid day and take her out for a potty break. Even though, she will be in her kennel for most of the day, I think it still a better option than having her imprisoned in a boarding home for wayward dogs. :rotfl2: My mom said if she is feeling up to it. (She has been suffering with extreme hip pain for the past 6 mos.) She would take her to her house for a couple of hours a day and let her and Dexter (our other way more laid back dog - almost barely breathing compared to Daisy) visit. :yay:
So, one less stress to worry about. :woohoo:

 I'm glad to hear you have plans for your furbabies now! I'm sorry that its not your perfect plans, but at least your babies will be in great hands and you don't have to worry about them being mistreated. :thumbsup2

Yes, I think I am ready to try almost anything at this point. It is soooo frustrating! I do have a HCTZ diuretic for BP, but I haven't been taking it because it makes have to run to the bathroom every few seconds....sorry TMI! I have been so busy these past few weeks with running to dr. appts. GS, fieldtrips, vet appts. I really need to get on them and stay on them and see if that doesn't help with the swelling. :confused3 The only other bad thing about them is it makes you super sensitive to the sun. Last time I was on vacation and on them I lathered on the sunscreen and still blistered.... It is always something, it is heck getting old. :sad2:
Thanks for the positive words of encouragement to me (miss negative Nelly :snooty:) You know me, I will definitely keep you all posted. I cannot stop talking about my dang feet and taking pics of my feet for that matter. :rotfl2::flower3:

MISS CORINNE!!!! I think you are secretly hoping that I get the ECV so you can take a free ride around the parks. :lmao::rotfl2::lmao: That is the second time you have mentioned it. :rotfl:

Yes, it makes me very happy to know she will be with family. :cloud9: I will be able to call them directly about how they are doing. My sis is not too fond of Daisy (because of her hyperactivity) but Kay and I agreed that this will be a bonding experience for both of them. Hopefully, they will be best of friends when we come back. :rotfl2:
I will definitely be getting both my mom and sis gift certificates (even though they told me NOT to) since they are helping us out more than they will ever know.:lovestruc I think our trip will be much more magical :wizard: with that burden lifted from our shoulders.

Oh, I thought those flip flops were such a cool idea...sorry they didn't work out for you :sad2: Glad you found a temporary home for your animals, though! One less thing to worry about, right? :)

Again, I'm glad that I won't be there so you can run me down. I can see it now ...

(Corrine) HEY! I think that's Lidian! It looks like she's going for TSM FP's!
(TK) HOLD ON! I'M PUNCHING IT!

And then you run me over and I'm a sad panda. :sad1:

:lmao::rotfl2::lmao::rotfl2:

sorry those flip flops didn't work out! They look so comfy! :(

Glad you found somewhere for Daisy. Our 2 dogs have similar personalities- one is laid back and just lays around all day (he's also really fat :lmao: ) and the other is crazy!

I'm glad you found a sitter for Daisy! :)
But I'm sorry about your new flip-flops not working out :sad1: I really hope you can find something soon! I'm on meds for BP as well, my problem with mine is swelling knees! When I'm up on my feet for a while, my knees get red and sore and feel like they are on fire, so I'm sure I'll have to stop and rest more than I'll want to! :headache:

Having no internet is such a pain in the butt, especially since I'm following all these great PTRs! lol
Dh is going to look into it a bit more, but she's got a huge, fence in backyard and she's got runs for big dogs and runs for little ones. She loves animals. She doesn't advertise, only relys on word of mouth so she's not real busy. A friend of dh's just left his two great danes with her so dh is going to see how that went.
My houseplants only need watering about three times while we're gone. My step mother always gets me to go water her plants and keep their hummingbird feeders filled when they're away (sometimes the entire summer), so she doesn't mind....it's just to get her to realize that they need water whether the dirt 'looks' moist or not!:rotfl:
I'm scared to do a rain dance while youre in Disney, what if we get all the rain here?! It won't help your plants much if it's raining here all the time!:rotfl:

So sorry to hear that your flip flops didn't work for you:guilty: I hope you are able to find something to help your heel, it's no fun having foot pain and especially not when you're in Disney:hug:
That's great that you found a place for Daisy though. A new adventure for her and your sister, they'll be fine! My Mom was not an animal person, especially with dogs, and by the time we returned home from our trip our dog was sleeping on the bed with Mom! Your sister will have a hard tiem parting with Daisy when you get back, and will have to come visit often to see her:)

Us, never!!! You could probably just jump on board and get a ride since Corinne will have a cart attached and there will be plenty of room. :lmao:

Yep, pretty bummed about my feet and the flip flops not being as comfortable as I had hoped. We are going to the beach for a week after Disney, so I will use them there. I am so happy to have a place for Daisy, too!!! Doesn't it always seem like the case; I know so many people who have the lazy one and the hyper one or the angel one and the devil one. I guess opposites attract even in pets. I know my two balance each other out nicely.
:thumbsup2

Daisy the Disaster has found a temporary home!!!
I wanted to ask if you happen to be taking Norvasc (generic aka Amlodipine)? Because I have also been having minor swelling in my knees and ankles.
Sometimes I think the meds are more trouble than they are worth.:scared1:

Yep, that is what I'm taking!!! Just 5 mg!!
The meds I was on before was making my hair fall out like crazy, so I was switched to Norvasc, 10mg and immediately started having knee swelling...so I cut it in half and it's gotten a little better. I hate side effects!!! :sad2:
