Snow Days....Smow Days! I AM BACK 6/12

Having no internet is such a pain in the butt, especially since I'm following all these great PTRs! lol
Dh is going to look into it a bit more, but she's got a huge, fence in backyard and she's got runs for big dogs and runs for little ones. She loves animals. She doesn't advertise, only relys on word of mouth so she's not real busy. A friend of dh's just left his two great danes with her so dh is going to see how that went.
My houseplants only need watering about three times while we're gone. My step mother always gets me to go water her plants and keep their hummingbird feeders filled when they're away (sometimes the entire summer), so she doesn't mind....it's just to get her to realize that they need water whether the dirt 'looks' moist or not!:rotfl:
I'm scared to do a rain dance while youre in Disney, what if we get all the rain here?! It won't help your plants much if it's raining here all the time!:rotfl:

So sorry to hear that your flip flops didn't work for you:guilty: I hope you are able to find something to help your heel, it's no fun having foot pain and especially not when you're in Disney:hug:
That's great that you found a place for Daisy though. A new adventure for her and your sister, they'll be fine! My Mom was not an animal person, especially with dogs, and by the time we returned home from our trip our dog was sleeping on the bed with Mom! Your sister will have a hard tiem parting with Daisy when you get back, and will have to come visit often to see her:)

So glad your internet is back up and running. We were missing you around these parts.;) I do notice though, that I get a lot more done when the computer is not calling my name. :rotfl2:

That does sound very promising about the lady that watches the dogs. I hope it works out for you all. Keep us posted!:goodvibes Wow! You guys even keep the bird feeders full when watching your step mother's house??? Yes, I don't think it is too much for her to water your plants every now and again when she is watching your place. I guess you could just tell her to water them 2x a week, even if the dirt looks moist or not.

I am hoping that this will be a bonding experience for my sis and Daisy. She is not too fond of her right now. That would be great if she let her sleep with her. I don't think it will happen though. Daisy is 55 lbs, but she does like to cuddle (especially during a T-storm). :lmao:

I guess I am just getting OLD with all this heel pain and such. I am thinking I may need to get just one more pair of shoes. I am thinking New Balance may do the trick. :rolleyes1 Hubby thinks I already have entirely too many shoes.

Not sure how much good a rain dance in Canada would do for us down here. :rotfl2:
I need to have all my Midwest DISfriends here in the US dancing, though. :rotfl:

Yep, that is what I'm taking!!! Just 5 mg!!
The meds I was on before was making my hair fall out like crazy, so I was switched to Norvasc, 10mg and immediately started having knee swelling...so I cut it in half and it's gotten a little better. I hate side effects!!! :sad2:

I was taking 2.5, but she upped it when I started developing a rapid heart rate with them (when I first started taking them). I landed in the hospital last May with tachycardia and super low potassium. She wasn't sure if it was from the Norvasc or a weird virus. :scared1: Well, I am still on them now experience swollen ankles and knees and crazy flushing episodes. I think it may be time to see if she can change me to something else. I will have to wait until I come back from vacation, though. Since I had such a bad response last time she changed my prescriptions around. I definitely don't want to end up in the hospital or feeling like death right before this vacation. Have you had any other side effects from them???

I feel I have been neglecting my thread. I have been working on "April Showers" for Girl Scouts for the past 2 weeks. It is a Personal Care Items Drive for our community.
I haven't really had any new plans except for a reservation for a 1 night stay at a hotel in the Florida Keys which isn't Disney related. The only hurdles left before our trip is Easter, Mother's Day and my mom's bday then it will be clear sailing. :cool1:

Mike aka Hubby came to me yesterday and said that he thought maybe we should rent a car for this trip. I didn't think it would be an option since the rental company that he works for has recently changed their employee rental rates and the savings is not as good as it used to be. I didn't even bring it up because of this. Well, I was surprised to say the least. Mike said that with getting a newer vehicle we will probably get better gas mileage. :cool1: I am just tickled that we won't have to put the extra mileage on my car. He ended up renting a standard sized SUV. The examples of that were Chevy Equinox, Saturn Vue and the like. We currently own a Jeep Grand Cherokee with a roof rack. We are not sure if this rental will be as large as what we already have and if it will have a roof rack or not. We purchase a roof top cargo carrier for our last trip and it was a real life saver. Hubby said that if it was smaller we would just have to pack lighter.....:scared1: We will have use of washer and dryer in Disney and the condo at the beach, but I was wanting to take some water toys, life jackets and such for our 2nd part of the trip. So who knows????:confused3

I better wrap this up for now. Jay has a Drs. appt. soon. He just told me he was ready to go to his doctors appt. :sad2: He won't be so eager to be there when they whip out the shots. He has to get 4 of them today of boosters and such in preparation for his starting Kindergarten in the Fall. I see an ice cream cone in his near future. :lovestruc

Wish us luck! :goodvibes

I'm glad to hear that you're able to get a good rental!:banana::banana:

My fingers are crossed that you'll get everything to fit, including your beach things!

Give Jay love from all of us. I hope he's a brave boy and handles his boosters well. :goodvibes Grab me a chocolate cone while you're out. ;)

Thanks for the well wish. He did fabulously!!!:thumbsup2 Not even a flinch....I promised him some ice-cream before the nurse came in with the injections. He said he wanted a chocolate milkshake, so we stopped at McD's after his appt. and sat in the drive thru to hear...."Sorry, we don't have any shakes today. Could I get you a strawberry lemonade?" I couldn't believe my ears. What McD's doesn't have milkshakes? I am sure they probably didn't have ice-creams either. I couldn't renege on my promise, so we drove to Jack in the Box and let me tell you that they have the most awesome shakes!!!! :cool1: Yep, Mommy had to have one too. I kept telling Jay it was like being in heaven while drinking it and he said it is like being in Missouri. I said what do you mean and he said I wouldn't want to be in heaven because only dead people are there. Never quite thought of it that way before. :rotfl2:

Glad to hear all went well with the boosters. Chocolate milkshakes are the best, but I've never had one from a Jack in the Box.
Your boy is smart, although I wouldn't pick Missouri as I've never been, I think I'd go with WDW! :rotfl2:

Do you guys have Jack in the Boxes in Canada? If so, YOU HAVE TO HAVE ONE OF THESE SHAKES!!! Double yum!!!
Yes, I would have to agree WDW is probably closer to what heaven is like and not Missouri. :lmao:

Kids crack me up. :lmao:

I hit a pot hole the other day on the way to the store and DS yells, "MOM! DID YOU JUST RUN OVER A PUPPY?!" :scared1::scared1: He even turned and was trying to peer out the back window because he didn't believe me when I said it was just a bump. So now I have to announce all potholes, speedbumps, etc. :rotfl:

I'm sooo glad that Jay was such a big, brave boy!!!!!

And I can't believe McD's didn't have any shakes! What's up with that? Well.. okay, I went to Chick-Fil-A once and they were out of chicken nuggets on a Friday night! So ... strangers things have happened. We don't have a Jack's nearby. We've stopped there once while travelling back and forth to Nashville, but never bothered with shakes, we were just wanting foods.

The best we have around here for icecream and shakes, that I've found, is Marble Slab (like Coldstone). But we usually hit Sonic if we want a frozen treat.

But I am glad to hear he did so well. Both of my kids flip out at the thought of doctors and needles. They start bawling as soon as I tell them they have a doctor's appointment scheduled. :sad2:

I am glad Jay took getting his boosters so well. My kids would have been screaming and kicking to prevent a shot. Liam is getting better, but than he needs to get his blood drawn very often with his drug study.

I am getting so jeolous. We don't have a Jack in the Box, or a Sonics by my house.:guilty: I am glad they are finally adding a Red Robbin. . .Ok I can't resist. . .Yum!:lmao::lmao:

I wish we had a Red Robin closer to us. It's about a 40 minute drive to the nearest one. :sad2: So ... I've been there once, and it was only because DH saw a commercial and was hungry for it, and the deal breaker was my comment that I had never heard of it. :lmao: (He doesn't believe me when I use that line nowadays. :confused3)

And to be honest ... Sonic is just mediocre. It is literally within walking distance (if I wasn't lazy) and that's the only reason they get our business. It's hard to go wrong with a milkshake ... but their food is just yuck. (Okay, their new hot dogs are pretty decent, but I can't stand the taste of burnt burgers.)

Nope, as far as I know we don't have any Jack in The Box restaurants here in Canada, we definately don't in NS.

Aren't kids the greatest? haha :rotfl2: Glad to hear his shots went well!

:rotfl:That is too funny! He wants to make sure you don't run over anything....:rotfl: Lay it on the line, missy!!! Do you have a history of running over puppies or something??? :lmao:

The KFC by my house is always out of chicken. :confused3 How is that possible??? We call it the World's Worst KFC.

Jay said something else funny after he got his shake. It had a fancy dab of whipped cream and a cherry on it and Jay said, "The cherry is a really nice touch." :lmao: What 5 yr. old says that???
You will definitely have to try Jack's shakes! They're one of the best I have ever had. Not that I am a milkshake connoisseur or anything. :rotfl2: They're pretty darn good!

It was so funny, the dr. asked if I had told Jay he was getting shots before the visit and I said no. She replied that I best tell him before the nurse came in with the injections. I guess they thought he was going to freak out or something.

:hug:Thanks for your well wishes. I am sorry to hear that Liam has to deal with needles so often...Poor lil' guy.

The kiddos and I absolutely  Red Robin!!! You better watch out that weight release may decide it has to have you back. :lmao:

Nope, as far as I know we don't have any Jack in The Box restaurants here in Canada, we definately don't in NS.

Can I send you one in the mail?:rotfl: They are scrumptious!!!

Aren't kids the greatest? haha :rotfl2: Glad to hear his shots went well!

Aren't they??? They definitely keep me laughing and life is NEVER boring!!!:rotfl2: Thanks!!!

Hey, I even brake for squirrels and birds!!!! I've never hit anything with DS in the car. :lmao:

I was horrid the other night, though. DH hit a bump, and I turned and made my eyes big and said to DS, "Daddy just ran over a puppy!" He didn't fall for it, he said it was just a bump-bump (his word for speedbump). So now I wonder why he thinks I'd hit a puppy but not DH. :sad2: :lmao: :rotfl2:

I really don't know of anyway to try a Jack's shake. We don't go to Nashville anymore. Mail me one, okay?

I can't believe your KFC has a hard time keeping chicken in stock! That just amazes me at place that can't budget out their inventory.

I used to work as a Customer Service Rep (at the food distributor) for Sonic. You'd be surprised at how many times I've had to call stores back and say, "You didn't order any shake mix/burgers/fries." They'd have their DUH moment and then order whatever it was they forgot. It was my sole job to make sure they ordered food, and ordered enough.

I smell a future decorater on your hands! :thumbsup2 That was really adorable him stating it was a nice touch.

My kids ask when I tell them they have an appointment. I made the mistake once of telling DD that she WASN'T getting a shot - she went in for pink eye, I never thought that she'd have a shot over pink eye!!!! So she was very mad at me for lying to her. So now I just don't say anything - and if they ask, I tell them I don't know. The nurse was mad at me for telling DD that she wouldn't get a shot, but I pointed out I never considered pink eye requiring an injection. :sad2:

Can I send you one in the mail?:rotfl: They are scrumptious!!!
Sure, but it may not be the best by the time it gets here anymore, would likely drop down to the worst! :rotfl:

:rotfl2: You are right!! It probably wouldn't be too good warmed up after a few days. It would probably be more like cottage cheese. YUCK! I guess I will just have to drink yours, too, while it is fresh! :lmao:

Our KFC has been out of chicken before too! It's crazy! :headache:

I just don't know how it is possible for KFC to run out of chicken?!? :confused3 It sounds like there is more than one World's Worst KFC. It sound like there is one in your neck of the woods, as well.

Sounds like a good solution! :rotfl2: All this talk about milkshakes I had to go out and get one from McDonalds....it's the best thing we have available around here! It was quite good :)

HAPPY EASTER TO ALL MY DISFRIENDS!!!!

Here is a pic of the kiddos with their Easter baskets first thing in the morning. (there is a bunch of candy under the pillow pets - wish I would have got a pic)

This is a pic of the beautifully set table my sis did for our Easter brunch.

My mom and her Easter tulips

IMG_1918.jpg

Another shot at my sister's house of the kiddos, they just had to bring their Pillow Pets that they got from the Easter Bunny.

IMG_1919.jpg

We have SOOOO much candy! I had to throw out a large quanity of Valentine candy just so I would have room for the next batch for the current holiday. It is pure craziness how much candy my kiddos get for each occasion. It is usually enough for 6 kids.

We were going to have an Easter Egg Hunt at my sister's house, but the monsoon rains started again, so we weren't able to do it. :sad1:
St. Louis has really been getting hit hard with all these Spring storms. It has been raining for 5 straight days. There has been tornadoes, hail the size of baseballs and flash flooding. I have had enough and am ready for a little sunshine.

Hope you all have a WONDERFUL Easter and cannot wait to read everyone's updates! :cool1:

HAPPY EASTER!

Don't let Jay tell Seth that he got the frog. :lmao: Seth has been looking for the frog, and we've had no luck.

I'm glad they enjoyed the Pillow Pets!. I think this was the first year my kids didn't get a fluffy or some sort. The Easter Bunny forgot. :headache:

The flowers were beautiful and it looks like you had a wonderful brunch!

Sorry to hear of the rain. Just think Disney thoughts ... it will be here before you know it!
