Excellent! Means whatever as cheap as we can get by with plans are getting axed unless a catastrophe strikes.

Touring plans posted about the original plans being scrapped. Now wanting a bigger, bolder vision for the land. Hoping the redesign makes the land even better.

A rumor kicked off this past weekend about the upcoming Villains Land coming to Magic Kingdom. The rumor comes via TouringPlans‘ Len Testa. In short, Testa says that the initial plans for Villains Land have been “scrapped”, and that Imagineers have been asked to go back to the drawing board for “bigger, bolder ideas”. Here’s the latest on the rumor, including what we’re hearing and what could be at play.

We’ll start by addressing what will surely be the viral, social media take on the headline. The rumor from Testa says that the initial plans were scrapped, not that Villains Land as a whole has been canceled. Walt Disney World is very much still going forward with a Villains Land for Magic Kingdom, and it will very likely be the biggest single magnet to draw visitation to the resort for decades to come. Well prepare to be disappointed since it is not likely at all before 2030. It is likely 18 months behind Cars Land if this rumor is even close to being true.

Basically everything but the land theme and location are rumors when it comes to villains land lol. The original announcement was wonderfully blue sky vague which has left Disney with almost complete wiggle room as long as they don’t change the theme. With Blog Mickey saying he’d been hearing the same thing, that’s about as confirmed as this is going to get.

If you’re Disney you don’t officially say “we were going to do the minimum to get by but then we decided not to”

FWIW I think Len, Brayden, and BM all have insight here, I'm leaning towards thinking this has been overstated a bit because it would likely mean a very long delay. Have not checked the board where this originated since it first popped up but likely some interesting discussion happening right now.

Well, regardless of if they are or are not reassessing the plans, anything that gives us a better end product is something I support.

If you’re going to pivot, better to do so during site clearing and preparation before any foundational work for structures or utility changes have been implemented.

I'd hope that they are constantly refining their plans for new construction. I don't think that's the same thing as totally scraping them though. I suspect this is more of an over-reaction or an attempt to get clicks.
