Yeah, not even 2 hours late. He just texted me he's there, now I can at least breathe. Clearly you guys have it much worse than we do up here. But there is are drifts 8-10 inches high on my driveway and at the bottom.

You need them to be "feet" high before it is a big deal. Wait until the plow comes through . Our neighbors driveway has a drift that is about 2" high and this is AFTER they plowed it out about an hour ago. DH just got done doing our driveway and sidewalk and we already have a drift across the sidewalk that is about a foot high.

On a good note, keep in mind that this is as bad as it has been here in over 4 years--this isn't typical.

That's how I was showing you that your snow is way worse than ours today. Although the plows haven't touched my cul de sac yet, I just drove dd to the bus stop and the driveways there have been well plowed in. Ds never even would have made it out at all with that pile. Our sidewalk is completely clear and you can still see grass in some parts of the yard.
Funny, I never wished for snow days for my kids, always hated them, but with Ds driving to school, now I will wish for them .

Your kids have SCHOOL????? We have a SNOW DAY. Our first one in 4 years though. We are under a blizzard warning too--it has been YEARS since we have had one of those.

Us too, we had 2 days last year and 1 the year before for extreme cold, but this is the first for actual snow! We have a new automated system and they called at 6am.

Kind of screwed my day up though, I had taken a personal day to wrap gifts and have the direct tv people out to hook up our new dish, but now the kids are home and dtv cancelled...

OH well, the kids have been out playing already...I went out to shovel out the mail box and its really not super cold right now...

I haven't talked to dh yet to see how long it took him to get to work in Woodbury...usually about 20 minutes...I'm sure it was fun!

I think our snow accumulation was 10.2", but the winds are picking up pretty bad so I'm thinking we'll have some pretty bad drifts.

I just dug out half the end of my driveway, now that the plow came through. Even though we didn't get a whole lot, there is still a good 2 feet at the end of my driveway, and they plowed a wall about 8 feet high in my front yard. And OMG it's cold!!!!!! That wind is nasty!

Yeah, the wind is pretty bad. It's 14 degrees here, windchill of -6. 26 MPH winds. Ewww. Tomorrow we've got a high of 8 degrees, low of -5.

8 degrees at my house, and windier than heck. I have been avoiding finding out what the windchill is LOL!!!!!!!!!!!!! But it's low, judging by the windburn on my cheeks from shoveling.

No thanks, I would take 20" of snow over an inch of freezing rain ANY day. Have fun on your trip. We will be heading through your neck of the woods in a couple weeks on our way down to Grandma and Grandpa's for Christmas, lets hope the weather cooperates. We went that way 2 years ago right before Christmas and the roads were HORRIBLE (and we waited an extra day to leave and they were STILL bad).

6:26 AM, traffic is a disaster!!! Another day of worrying about ds driving to school...

The "storm' was more of a fizzle--I think we ended up with about 2". The roads were a little slick but not bad. I left for work around 6:00 AM and it took 25 minutes, usually takes about 15 with how I hit the lights today.

We had a good 2+ inches (double what they predicted ) but it sure screwed up traffic up here. I didn't leave until 8:30 and it was still very slow going.
