Is it possible to go somewhere in Nassau and snorkle on your own instead of doing one of Disney's excursions? And can someone refresh me...where is it that you can find out about non-Disney excursions for Nassau?

Maybe I can help you out. Go to Deb's site, www.wdwig.com click on the cruise line guide, it will show you everything there is to do on all the ports of call. We just got back from a four day Wonder and did The Blue Lagoon Beach Day. Once on Blue Lagoon (thanks to Deb's Guide) we walked to the other side of the island to Stingray City. There, for $20 each, we swam and snorkled with the stingrays. Although the ocean was a bit choppy that day, it was fantastic. There is also a small beach on the way to Stingray City that apparantly not alot of people know about. We had it all to ourselves and the snorkling there was terrific. We all agreed that Blue Lagoon was our best day during this cruise and that includes Castaway Cay. CC was too crowded and the snorkling sucked. The water was murky due to all the bodies in it! We even tried the adult beach and were also disapointed. You will not be disapointed with The Blue Lagoon. Hope this helps.

We did the afternoon snorkeling offered by DCL the last time we went. While a little more than doing on your own, the one thing I really liked was that they had people right in the water with the guests.

Thinking from a Safety-wise perspective something to consider when filling out all of that trip paperwork perhaps!:p

I have never been, but seems like I can remember reading somewhere that snorkeling at Athol Island is supposed to be just "spectacular". Disney offers this snorkel trip on the Carribbean Queen, Which seems like it is supposed to be be a very nice boat/excursion.

If snorkeling is really what your looking for, then this sounds really great!!! I think that maybe this is not a 'family' type excursion for younger kids though. I thought maybe somebody on the boards here could tell us more!!!!

We will be with our 5 year old, so I am still trying to decide between Blue Lagoon and a room at Atlantis(comfort) which would be cheaper than taking the family of four thru Disney, with unimited access to Atlantis!. Seems no DISers here are offering any good info on spending the day at Atlantis though?? Maybe at some point I will try to start a thread on this again. Any Info on this is greatly appreciated too!!!

Wishing on a star,
We did the Atlantis thing this past Feb. We got a room at the comfort and was able to get in unlimited to Atlantis. They were definitely checking for those wrist Bands when we were there. We left our clean clothes etc. at the Comfort Inn and came back to there to shower and change before the cab ride back to the ship and late dinner seating. This is the way we would do the Atlantis again. With a family of 3 and a 6 y/o with us he loved the pool area. He was to small for the main big slide and was very disappointed with this. Ocean was very rough the day we were there but DS enjoyed the lagoon area that was roped off for swimming. If you are looking for just beach swimmint though I would recomend a diffrent outing as this was still fairly expensive. :smooth:

Cantw8. I would really like to talk to you! We are thinking of doing that exact same thing- take Blue Lagoon Beach Day from DCL over to the island, then do th stingray swim while we are there. I thought it costs 45 bucks for the cheapest one, how did you do that for 20? Wow what a great deal. Fill me in. :) Feel free to email me (please do) at shefor24@hotmail.com

Friends have a 5 year old who snorkels but is too young for the DCL snorkeling excursions. If they could go to Blue Lagoon on the Disney excursion and then snorkel once there (inc the 5 yr old) that would be the answer to their problems. Would they have to have their own gear? How much does it cost. How do you find this place once Disney drops you off? Tell us about the Stingrays!

Thanks.....sorry so many questions but we wanted to do this exact thing and are sailing on Sunday

we are very interested in all of this additional info too.

Sounds like I am hearing feedback from a couple of places that maybe the actual beach(s) at Atlantis are not really that great. And, yes, we were interested in the beaches as well as the pools and the aquariums. (no slots though!!) I thought the beaches there on Paradise Island were all white and beautiful? Any more detailed info please! If we had wristbands, would that get us beach chairs, discount on food, or anything else? And, I have heard of all the walking involved. Is a lot of this from the boat dock to the Atlantis? Which would be remedied by taking a taxi. What are the logistics on getting around.

Teri, great pictures! Sounds like you were really impressed with Atlantis enough to go back. And, great music while viewing. Is that on a CD that I would be able to get?

Thanks!
