Our family has been on both the Eastern and Western 7-night Disney Cruises. (and we absolutely LOVE them :teeth: ) We were planning to go on another Eastern cruise in about a year. Would anybody have any suggestions as to a nice place to go snorkeling in St. Thomas? We were considering going to Magens Bay. Has anybody ever been to Magens Bay? We would appreciate any recommendations. Thanks!

It is a very nice beach, but i don't believe it is good for snorkeling.

If you haven't been to St. John's, it is well worth your time to go there. We rented a van at the dock on St. Thomas and took the car barge over to St. John's. This allows to to explore on your own time and can be done for about $100. Trunk Bay is excellent for snorkeling since it is an easy swim from the beach and the rent equipment if you need it. The vistas there are absolutely stunning!

Thanks! On our first crusie we did go to Trunk Bay. I thought it was beautiful. We were just trying to stay in St. Thomas this time. Any ideas on other places in St. Thomas? I've heard of Coki Point, is that good? Or should I just not try St. Thomas at all? Any ideas?

Hi.
I think I saw in another post or on a St.Maarten website, that Dawn beach is supposed to be a great place for snorkeling.
We are going to try it in May.

Coki beach is a great family destination. Very easy to get to by cab. It is right next door to Coral World so you can tour that and still have plenty of time to snorkel at the beach as well. There are showers and lockers at Coral World you can use.

We love Coral World and plan to go back on our December Cruise. Check out there web site here.
Coral World

Enjoy!

We've been to all three mentioned above. Magen's Bay is poor snorkeling. Coki Beach has good snorkeling. Dawn Beach may be O.K. if you have not snorkeled much (i.e., pretty marginal if you have.) The beach is lovely, though, and well worth your time and a quick water face plant or two. I have yet to hear of any experienced divers-snorkelers who have found a rave site in St. Maarten-Martin. If you want an excursion from St Thomas, try one to Buck Island (Capella Islands). This area is right off Charlotte Amalie. Good fish, octopus nest piles, and sea turtles (which we did not see, but most everyone else does).

We also enjoyed Coki for the snorkeling - very easy for kids from shore, good coral. We went to Cinnamon Bay last time and loved it - the snorkeling was good, the scenary outstanding, just like Trunk of course as its the next beach over. Agree with abitjaded on Dawn Beach - we had a great day there, cant beat mr busby's and the $0.75 Caribs! Very nice beach, everything you needed right there, great views, small crowd. Snorkeling was ok - again good for kids - fish were close in very modest coral.
