Snorkeling in the rain?

Jrabbit, I love your pics. Can I ask a question, though? I see one of them is of a person well under the water. I thought snorkeling was about keeping the snorkel above the water line while you looked under the water? Yeah, I'm a total snorkel novice. Sorry if that's a dumb question.

We were just on an excursion that included snorkeling, and at some point the guides went underwater like that. As did my son, apparently. I don't know personally because he just went off immediately while I was having a surprise last minute panic attack.

and that person dove over 20 feet down :earseek: to get to the shipwreck!!! Talked to him afterwards and he was surprised that it was that far down and it was hard and a little painful for him to do (because he wasn't prepared for the depth of the dive - and how long he was going to be down for)
