Snorkel gear?

I saw an older PlanDisney post saying that you have to return snorkel gear at the end of each day, and that you can’t use the lagoon gear in Rainbow Reef and vice versa. Is that still the case? Are there at least any good discounts for length of stay lagoon gear rentals like the discount on the reef pass?

And, just in case, does anyone remember seeing inexpensive snorkel sets at Costco or Walmart? We don’t want to lug our good sets along from home, since Aulani is the first week of a three week trip and the only place we’d use the gear.

I thought the length of stay Rainbow Reef pass also included snorkel gear at the beach, you just had to turn in each set before going to the other location. At least this is what I heard pre-2020, so things may have changed.

We did buy our snorkel sets at Costco in Honolulu for maybe $30-35 or so.

Yes, that is still the case. We just got back recently. The Rainbow Reef gear does not include fins since they’re not allowed there.
