FYI - I bought snorkel gear at BJs yesterday for $29.99. Mask, fins and snorkel in a nifty backpack, US Divers is the brand. For only $5 more than the rental fee at CC - I get to keep it.
I've never been snorkeling, so I have no idea what quality this stuff is, then again I won't notice the difference.
