My DH snores (because of his weight) and it helps when he takes a decongestant right before bed. When we travel and share a room with family we have snoring issues!! Have tried the nasal strips with no success. Does anyone have any suggestions for what has worked for them?

In 2007 I came home from a trip to NYC with my MIL and she and DH told me my snoring was terrible. I had no idea and kinda sorta remember DH knocking on the head board a few times to wake me up so I could stop. Well I went to the doctor and he referred my to a pulmonologist for a sleep study which explained the obvious embarrasing fact that I had a problem. So we got me a CPAP. I love that little machine and I can tell a huge difference when I use it. I wake up in the morning ready to rock and roll.Dh's snoring is so bad I sleep in the guest bedroom!

and I'm on a morning and an evening nasal spray. The evening one is some version of an antihistamine, and my DH and I jokingly refer to it as my anti-snoring medication, because as soon as I started on it, it stopped me from snoring. I also breathe better during the day, fwiw.Dh's snoring is so bad I sleep in the guest bedroom! We have bought nose strips and ear plugs but I guess on vacation I am so tired we don't use either and I rarely wake up.
I have been known to toss an empty water bottle or two at him when he does wake me!!

There could be times oxygen is being cut off. I'd ask a physician about how to handle it.

my mum snores like a freight train and I'm sharing a cabin with her on the Magic in July!! yikes![]()
Unfortunately, that's true. I've asked and asked him to go to the doctor, but he doesn't think he has a problem. He thinks I have the problem. God love the little . . . .

Thanks for the suggestion. I'm the snorer, and unfortunately for DH, all the pokes and prods do nothing-I sleep like a rock. Not only does he sleep in the LR sometimes, he closes the bedroom door to give added "protection" from the noise of my snoring. So at this point, I'm sure he'd be willing to try almost anything new (except the divorce idea).I had a college Roommate that snored. When it woke me up... I hould do a single loud clap of my hands and it would startle him(not awaken) enough to make him stop long enough for me to fall back to sleep.
