SNL 50th Should Be Epic!

A little rumor news.

According to a tip shared by Deuxmoi, the premiere could be hosted by Glen Powell, who said he was previously invited to host in conjunction with the Top Gun: Maverick release before it was delayed and who previously cameoed in Sydney Sweeney’s episode. The alternative premiere host, according to this rumor submission, is Nikki Glazer, and actors Dylan O’Brien (who stars in Saturday Night as Dan Aykroyd), Natasha Lyonne, Kyle Mooney, and Simone Biles could also host this season. The report also claims that Eddie Murphy is in talks to host the holiday show with Taylor Swift as a musical guest.

I forgot about it being their 50th year. I still remember Chevy Chase, Jane Curtin, John Belushi, Dan Akroyd, Steve Martin's many guest appearances, etc. Or maybe I should say "I'm Chevy Chase and you're not!" "Jane, you ignorant S***t!", Rose Ann Roseanna Danna, "Foxes!", "Never mind!" I feel so old.
We are old! I have resigned myself to the fact.
Wow.....50 years
I don't watch anymore (I don't stay up that late), but I should record it.
Thanks for posting about it being the shows 50th year
I record it. The show has been uneven lately, some are duds, the Ryan Gosling one recently was hilarious.

The thing is, it's always been like that. It's the nature of experimental comedy. We all remember the classic stuff from the early days or the early 90's era, but how many duds were there? There were actually lots. We just eventually foget those and remember the good stuff. The only thing I might knock them on in the more recent times (and this is still going back a ways at this point), is dipping into the same thing too many times. With some sketches you can do that, but most, the one and done is best - you can't recapture that magic sometimes.

The new documentary, Saturday Night is rumored to play the Telluride Film Festival at the end of the month. It's about the evolution of the very first show. Should be interesting.

Some comments from Maya Rudolph on playing Kamala Harris-she is excited.

I think Maya's Harris and James Austin Johnson's Trump could very well be the 2 best impressions in SNL history-should be some classic stuff.

Rudolph, who was on SNL between 2000 and 2007, said that it was “incredible” that there’s a Presidential candidate that looks like her.
“I would never have believed you if you’d said, ‘Hey one day you’re going to be playing the Presidential candidate’. To think that I had anything to do with this by association is mind-blowing. I spent so many years on SNL watching other people play presidential candidates and thinking there’s no one that resembles me in the race. To think that we’re here now, and to think that I would ever be close by association, is so incredible.”

Makes you wonder as the creator Lorne Michaels said it could be the last season but really would be surprised and then again wouldn't.

Well said!

The show will continue.

Lorne has not named his successor, but has responded favorably to the possibility of it being Tina Fey.

Interesting quote from Molly Shannon.

She could be referring to the 3 hour Special planned for February.

I’m so excited. It’s such a thrill for Lorne Michaels. It’s really to celebrate Lorne Michaels and everything he’s done. To get to see all my fellow colleagues from SNL who I’ve performed with, some of who I haven’t. It’s going to be epic and I can’t wait. Lorne’s been planning it and working on it… people are getting so excited now.

Steve Martin could come back to do Tim Walz skits
...unfortunately, he has already stated that he will NOT be appearing in the anniversary show.....he won't be a "wild and crazy guy"....

AFAIK Steve only turned down the Walz role.

I can't imagine that he and Marty Short won't pop up in an episode this Season or in the February Special or both.

The Emmys will celebrate SNL 50 tonight.

Punkie Johnson and Molly Kearney have decided their time on SNL has come to an end.

Chloe Troast is leaving also but "was not my choice".OUCH!

One more week!

I am thinking there is a 100 per cent chance the Cold Open will be a Kamala/Trump skit.

And Pet eating will probably be mentioned!lol

Lorne is saying that the Trump impersonation on SNL will be reinvented this Season and hinted that James Austin Johnson may not be doing it.

I just went to record it today and it said "Jelly Roll performs". Is that by chance the famous jazz pianist? DS, who majored in Jazz studies, regaled me with stories and he me know the irony of a place like Disney using his name on a place (the piano bar) when he didn't act very "Disney-like".

No. Country artist Jelly Roll.
