Sneaking alcohol onto DCL - We need to learn how

No individual is perfect. No corporation - made up of 150,000 individuals - is perfect too. I worked for Boeing for over 27 years....it was not hard to find. MOST corporations have core values that include integrity, honesty, ethical behavior.

If you see nothing wrong with it, then go ahead and do it. Just ask yourself, would I be comfortable posting to FB or telling your children or grandchilden, neighbor, pastor.....how you broked the rules on Disney cruise by sneaking in alcohol so you wouldn't have to pay for you booze on the cruise.

read above in my earlier post, I will have no problems meeting my maker

Is the same Boeing you're referring to?

Harry Stonecipher, Boeing

By Frances Romero
Tuesday, Aug. 10, 2010

Following the ouster of Philip Condit as Boeing CEO in 2003, Harry Stonecipher came out of retirement to take over the reins. But Stonecipher clearly didn't learn any lessons from Condit's dismissal, which had been precipitated by not only an Air Force contracting scandal but also reported affairs with employees. So when an anonymous e-mail was sent that implicated Stonecipher in an affair with female executive Debra Peabody, it was déjà vu for the scandal-hit aviation company. Just 18 months after taking over, Stonecipher resigned after an investigation into illicit e-mails between the two confirmed the allegation.

Yup, the word is full of imperfect people. My children made some bad choices growing up and the were punished and lived with the consequences but making mistakes does not make them bad people...it make them human. The learned from their mistakes.

I didn't asked about you meeting your maker. Are you willing to post on your facebook page and tweet out that you smuggled alcohol on a Disney cruise ship like college kid at a concert? Might not bother you but I would find that terribly embarrassing....

I wouldn't be able to meet my maker (and the funny thing is I'm not religious at all, just using it for effect), if I had done something I couldn't live with. Give me a few minutes, I'm going to post on Facebook and see what kind of responses I get

I have no problem. We're driving and our travelling mates are flying. I've already told them, I'll smuggle on a bottle of lychee liqueur for them. If it makes it onboard, I'll post a picture here and on my facebook page.

I will, I am proud of my frugalness! I'll even give my children, grandchildren, neighbor, pastor....some tips on how to do it.

I wouldnt be embarrassed at all. Theres a community board on the dis for like minded judgemental people. You should hop over there.

If you sign the contract with DCL you are givinng your word....your honor and integrity are on the line. Don't throw that away over a few beers.

See this is the part of your post that i disagree with. Both parties, the supplier and the consumer entered into a contract together. Why is it ok for dcl change the contract by revoking a long standing policy with not enough notice for those that are paid in full to cancel the contract, but it is not ok for the consumer to disobey the new policy by sneaking alcohol onboard? where is dcl's honor and integrity? why should they not feel ashamed?

These aren't fandom individuals, these are the individuals that set the policy you were touting. So to finish your analogy, it's like the parents telling their children to behave while they do the exact opposite, or in the instant case, DCL telling the guests to do what they say but doing whatever they wanted.

It was your example, just pointing out it missed the mark on making the point you were trying to make.

I misspoke when I sad "a lot", sorry, i won't be sailing Silver Seas ever. I'm still frugal with most things, but see the value on taking my kids on DCL. I still used an old OBC to get the 10% discount, booked it first day it went out, bought the Target and Disney gift cards through Raise. All in an effort to make it worth it.

It still comes down to the squeezing that irks me. Other posters can keep coming down with the righteous integrity remarks all they want. I'll be meeting my maker with no qualms on how I've lived my life or raised my children. I live by the Golden Rule, and the way most corporations and banks have treated us, I should be buying Vasoline to make my returning their favors less painful.

Whoa, hey I only suggested you try an all inclusive cruise, because I thought you were so unhappy with DCL. But apparently you still see the value of taking a DCL cruise, but if it still comes down to the "squeezing" then you really might want to give serious consideration to trying a different line.

And for what it's worth, how you live your life or raise your children is totally your business; I really could care less & think folks should as well... Now the Vasoline comment might just be a wee bit over the top :rotfl2: (JMHO).

Used to be the moral standard was would you want to see this on 60 Minutes or the front page of the Wall Street Journal, now its posting on FB? That stock is severely undervalued if their product is that powerful.

I wonder how many people would sneak alcohol if the consequence was lifetime ban from DCL? I know it's not realistic but would be interesting to see if it would change behavior

I wouldn't give my money to a company that did something like that so it wouldn't matter to me. DCL is not the only vacation option.

Ever notice that when someone shines a light on someone's lack of character they fire back by calling them judgemental and talking about casting stones and quoting Jesus?

Guess if I tell someone it is wrong for them to cheat on their spouse I would be called judgemental and casting stones?

LOL

"Mommy, how come we can't take another Disney cruise?"

"Uh....well....I got caught trying to smuggle a bottle of gin onto the last cruise.....but hey, it's not like there aren't other cruise lines....."

:-)

Just trying to lighten things up.

posted on Facebook, all good. I've got co-workers, friends of parents, etc. I'm not ashamed one bit by discussing something as simple as smuggling booze on a cruise ship despite all your efforts to shame me.

Again, I live my life by the Golden Rule, and am pretty sure Karma is on my side by what I have done in the past and will do in the future
