DD, 16, has been waiting all summer for this movie to be released, and now it is apparently rated R. Does anyone know what for (sex, violence, language?) Or can you point me to a good site to find out more about the content of movies?

All of the above.

Samuel L Jackson is in it. Makes it kind of obvious doesn't it? :rotfl2:

Sex, violence, language, all that. Screenit is a good sight to see a total breakdown of everything, from drugs/alcohol, sex/nudity, violence/blood/gore, frightning scenes, immitative behavior, language, and bad behavior.

He was on TRL plugging the movie today. He said there was some nudity and some language thrown in. He said that it had been rated PG13 but that people who had viewed it wanted them to add more to it and make it R rated. I don't know why. PG13 is bad enough most of the time.

Not to mention PG-13 usually make more money anyways...:confused3

From Yahoo Movies:
R for language, a scene of sexuality and drug use, and intense sequences of terror and violence.

Because a lot of people are tired of watered down PG13 movies that should have been R. Horror movies should be R.

I don't care what it is rated - we're all going to see it. No way this family could pass up a movie entitled "Snakes on a Plane!"

i heard it became r because SLJ wanted to add one F-bomb in a scene he felt fit it.

Actually it is because the fans who started all the internet buzz want to see a real Sam Jackson movie. So the filmmakers went back and upped everything and went to an R rating.

The reviews for "Snakes" on my favorite screening websites won't be out until the 18th but you could check it out then.
I use www.kids-in-mind.com and www.screenit.com (lots of popups though) but really detailed info on what is in the movie.

Yep, saw him in an interview this morning and that's what SLJ said.
Anybody remember "Snakes" by Bill Cosby? Snakes under the bed...probably showing my age now. :rotfl2:

Who has time for sex when there's snakes on the plane??

Well, if that's the case, she could probably see it, because she hears that from me on occasion.

I don't think I have ever seen a Samuel L Jackson movie, so it would not make it obvious to me.

I guess I'll have to check it out further. Horror stuff doesn't bother her, and her seeing some nudity or drug use doesn't bother me.
I remember when I was 16 and couldn't get in to Animal House on my first attempt (but did get in on my second try).

There's an article in Entertainment Weekly...

Basically they were gonna make it PG-13, but the vocal internet fanbase, who loved it mostly by title alone, wanted to hear Sam Jackson rant about "mother f---ing snakes on a mother f---ing plane!".

And since they were already at a R rating for that language, they might as well go for it all, so add some extreme action, slo-mo snake strikes, and one couple "joining the mile high club in a cramped plane restroom."

Plus the whole...it's snakes. On a plane. If you don't want to see that, you already know it just by looking at the title.

I can't wait to see it!!!

I'd be afraid to go see this movie in the theatre. I might get dirty looks from all the people around me when I started laughing my butt off at the ludicrousness of the plot. :rotfl2:

You know things aren't going too well when SoAP is considered a horror film. :rotfl2: :rotfl: :lmao:

Well there are alot of BAD horror movies, believe a woman who has sat through Leach Woman, Stuff and Overdrawn at the Memory Bank. They said Snakes was suposed to be a little cheesy, but by the time the got done it had become fully cheeserific. I love Jackson so I'll see it no matter how bad it is, but I doubt I'll waste precious theater time on it since I don't get to go much.
I personally never care what a movie is rated, ratings seem so arbitrary. I am planning on watching "This Film Is Not Yet Rated" though.

They did use real snakes. And CGI snakes, as well as rubber snakes.

I doubt they'll have Snakes on The Seats next to you in the theaters though.

Hey, wait a minute...was Stuff the eighties-ish one about the alien goo pretending to be a cross between Jell-o and yogurt? Looked like what the Mom in Better Off Dead made for dessert? That was a satire..or what passed for it at the time! Not a waste of time, though not total genius. (Or am I thinking of The Stuff? Is there a difference???)
