I will never complain about winter weather again! At least our winters freeze out large bugs and keep the snakes asleep!
Snakes I can handle. SPIDERS I can't!
I saw plenty of snakes growing up in Michigan. The highlight of one summer was seeing a real live Mississauga rattler on our front lawn. I've always liked snakes.
As I've said, spiders are my thing. I once opened up a bag of grapes and a large spider crawled out - after I finally killed the thing I noticed an hourglass on its belly.I now soak all of our grapes in a large bowl of water for a half hour before I open the package!
Now because I am so cursed, I will be the guest who has the snake in the bed and the one that lays eggs in the bed, too.![]()
DH and I are both freaked out by snakes.
We have seen them a few times at Disney. Once dd saw one (long, black one) on the path at Tom Sawyer's Island on the way back to the raft. DH and I panicked and almost left the kids!
Second time DH saw one on the loose at the Boneyard in AK. CM's had the infamous "burlap bags" trying to catch it. We left AK immediately.
Third time DH and I saw it from a distance. We were sitting on our balcony at BC and saw a long, black snake slithering in the area just past the bushes that separate the patios from the grassy courtyard area near the volleyball courts.
We used to ask for a 1st floor room at YC - that cured us. Of course when we went in February what do you think we got - a first floor room at the GF. I never went outside without checking first, and didn't go out when it was dark AT ALL!
If we ever saw one in our room I don't know who would drop dead first - me or DH.

Funny, I am always looking up and out at Disney so I guess I have missed them but I am with other posters... I would pee my pants, then scream and run. And yes, I would leave my child in my dust.![]()
Thanks to everyone for this enlightening thread. Now I have snake cooties.![]()
gosh! I get chills up my spine over this. I dont know what it is about snakes!!! I grew up in the fields of North Carolina and saw more snakes and snake bites then I'd ever care to for the rest of my life I know they are SUPPOSE to be more scared of you then you are of them, but #1 - I doubt it and #2 with MY luck, I'd get the renagade snake trying to impress some girl snake who would get the thrill out of showing me who's the bigger scairdy cat.. me thats who. BTW, I called POP and told them I don't care what room or what view, I want on the highest floor (I didn't tell them about the snake thoughts though, I do have some dignty to try & retain.)
I don't want to eridicate the earth of snakes or anything like that, I just don't want to worry about them in my ROOM. I'll stay out of thier nest/den whatever thier house is called, and they stay out of my room and we can all co-exist just fine. I really do think I'd faint if I pulled back the covers to see a snake in my bed though.
Someone please tell me there has never been a snake bite at Disney and they have anti-venom stock piled
I'm afraid to now request a 1st floor room at Poly, ugh..![]()
Sorry but my friend's daughter was bitten by a snake at CBR. She ended up in the hospital for 2 days. STAY AWAY FROM THE MULCH!!!!
