Snake in Resort Room?

I will never complain about winter weather again! At least our winters freeze out large bugs and keep the snakes asleep!

OMG I am so having a nightmare tonight I just know it!

Snakes I can handle. SPIDERS I can't!

I saw plenty of snakes growing up in Michigan. The highlight of one summer was seeing a real live Mississauga rattler on our front lawn. I've always liked snakes.

As I've said, spiders are my thing. I once opened up a bag of grapes and a large spider crawled out - after I finally killed the thing I noticed an hourglass on its belly. :scared1: I now soak all of our grapes in a large bowl of water for a half hour before I open the package!

I hate, hate, hate snakes, so of course, I'm cursed by them. :rotfl:

We have them all the time in our house. And no we don't live near a swamp or in the south or anything like that. We live in a house halfway up a hill near the woods in Massachusetts. We find tiny ones, medium ones, and lots of skins. The last skin was about 4 ft long. We've had them in our basement shower, in the dryer and in the rafters. We've had garter snakes, black racers and a copperhead :scared1: in our basement. Luckily we didn't know it was a copperhead until after I'd had my DS (13) carry it and the box is was hiding in outside and dump it out in the woods. :rolleyes1 . Or course since we had never seen a snake like it before we decided to look it up. Did you know copperheads are extremely rare and endangered and almost never seen in MA? Oh, and poisonous. yeah that. I do now.

Now because I am so cursed, I will be the guest who has the snake in the bed and the one that lays eggs in the bed, too.:lmao:

They prey on the mice and little critters that are problems! It's when you see an alligator when you should get nervous!:lmao: :rotfl2:

DH and I are both freaked out by snakes.

We have seen them a few times at Disney. Once dd saw one (long, black one) on the path at Tom Sawyer's Island on the way back to the raft. DH and I panicked and almost left the kids!

Second time DH saw one on the loose at the Boneyard in AK. CM's had the infamous "burlap bags" trying to catch it. We left AK immediately.

Third time DH and I saw it from a distance. We were sitting on our balcony at BC and saw a long, black snake slithering in the area just past the bushes that separate the patios from the grassy courtyard area near the volleyball courts.

We used to ask for a 1st floor room at YC - that cured us. Of course when we went in February what do you think we got - a first floor room at the GF. I never went outside without checking first, and didn't go out when it was dark AT ALL!

If we ever saw one in our room I don't know who would drop dead first - me or DH.

Well I guess I am now in the 'why did I read this entire thread when I knew it was just going to give me the heeeby jeeebies' club. The good news is that no one actually posted a pic...that might have thrown me right over the edge. :scared:
ps - I will be un-subscribing to this thread asap in case someone DOES post a picture. :faint:

LOL:rotfl2:
I saw a small snake in my backyard one time a few years ago -- yds was 2 and ods was 5.. I DID LEAVE THEM, got to the patio, turned around and had to go BACK to get them. --they were just standing there crying -- I felt terrible about it (leaving them) but I really could't help it -- I just get so panicky when I see snakes.

:scared:

OK people there has got to be something they can do to keep the snakes from going into anyone's room.... snake away or something please I beg please dont let me see any :scared:

Funny, I am always looking up and out at Disney so I guess I have missed them but I am with other posters... I would pee my pants, then scream and run. And yes, I would leave my child in my dust. :scared1:

Thanks to everyone for this enlightening thread. Now I have snake cooties. :scared:

You said exactly what I was thinking!!:scared1: :scared1:

It wasn't until my eight trip to wdw last year that i saw a snake there!

At SSR I saw a teeny tiny black snake (about 6 inches long) which i actually thought was a twig or a pencil, until it wriggled off the path and into the bushes!

Then walking back from DTD to SSR one evening we saw a group of people stood around staring at something, near the Marketplace bus stop, it was a 2/3 ft yellow-ish snake, completely still.. and a tweenage boy was trying to jump on it?! His parents weren't stopping him.. I can't say I like snakes but in this instance I actually felt sorry for the animal and angry at the boy!! :sad2:

SSR also has some big dragonflies and tree frogs around the resort too... none of them worried me - and I'm from the UK where we barely have any native wildlife like that!

Barbie princess:

We saw a snake on the sidewalk at Port orleans Riverside.. my daughter and I were terrified! We changed resorts.. we couldn't see ourselves walking back to our room at night knowing we would be worried a snake would come out! FREAKED us out!

Hmmm...I didn't really think to much of it, I saw two different snakes while we stayed at SSR last October. One was between Congress Park and the water, the other was on a path to Grandstand from the main building. I grew up an hour north of Toronto and there are lots of snakes there... Not saying Im a fan of them, but I don't freak out over them...I freak out about spiders!!!

gosh! I get chills up my spine over this. I dont know what it is about snakes!!! I grew up in the fields of North Carolina and saw more snakes and snake bites then I'd ever care to for the rest of my life I know they are SUPPOSE to be more scared of you then you are of them, but #1 - I doubt it and #2 with MY luck, I'd get the renagade snake trying to impress some girl snake who would get the thrill out of showing me who's the bigger scairdy cat.. me thats who. BTW, I called POP and told them I don't care what room or what view, I want on the highest floor (I didn't tell them about the snake thoughts though, I do have some dignty to try & retain.)

I don't want to eridicate the earth of snakes or anything like that, I just don't want to worry about them in my ROOM. I'll stay out of thier nest/den whatever thier house is called, and they stay out of my room and we can all co-exist just fine. I really do think I'd faint if I pulled back the covers to see a snake in my bed though.

Holy Crap!! That is the Funniest Thing I have read in a long time!!:rotfl2: :lmao: those are my sentiments exactly! You are a woman who shares my thoughts!! :worship: THanks for the laugh!! I needed it! I will be requesting an upper floor room and watching the ground everystep I take... Oh and I will be forgoing the open toed shoes or sandals it will be tennis shoes for me so I can run away faster... If someone sees it happening please yell for me not to forget my kids!!

Someone please tell me there has never been a snake bite at Disney and they have anti-venom stock piled:scared1:

I'm afraid to now request a 1st floor room at Poly, ugh..:scared:
