Snacks on rides or inside shows

Can I give my dd11 mo Cheerio's or some kind of snack while we are on longer rides or during shows? She is very fidgety & if she has something to snack on I can usually keep her quiet longer. I am just not sure if food is allowed.

I am not sure what the technical ruling on this is, but we have done it before with our toddler. I am always very careful to pick up any spilled food and wrappers, so that we don't make any mess. I also make sure to only serve dry snacks, like Cheerios, that won't make a sticky mess for someone else!
