Ok, so from what I have read on the new 2009 du website is that the snacks are as follows:

1 snack includes one of the following: frozen ice cream novelty, popsicle, fruit bar, popcorn scoop (single serving box), single serving grab bag of chips, single piece of whole fruit, 20-oz. bottle of Coke, Diet Coke, Sprite or Dasani water, medium fountain soft drink or juice, 12-oz. coffee, hot chocolate or hot tea.

This is also what the 2008 snack list says. My question is, what is the approved snack list that is posted on this board and thumbtacked??

Does disney only list those things, but actually let's you get much more or am i missing something? If they allow more than what is listed that's pretty crappy that they list such a small amount of things! very deceiving!

Thank god for the dis!:disrocks:

I too was disappointed by what I read on other postings. Look at the links under another thread on this board and READ CAREFULLY under the snack options. It does say something like: "Examples include the following......" I am SURE that there are other options, as in the past, but PLEASE do NOT quote me on this. I couldn't imagine the snack options being soooo limited. Hope everything works out as we plan!!!!!! Enjoy your trip, especially is you are lucky enough to be going soon!!!!

***Credit given for the links is obviously from another posting from a fellow disboarder. (I hope that they don't mind that I am trying to help out a questionable person!!!) I did NOT research these initially and therefore am NOT taking any credit for the initial posting!!!

Yes, the current list is very similar wording. Things do change though usually without warning. They opened up tons of new snacks very randomly and then just as randomly this year they stopped allowing anything labelled family size even if it's way cheaper than other stuff they allow. Like 2.50 for a box of donuts is not allowed but a big bag of caramel corn for $4 was allowed. Just have to keep your eyes out for how things may change and always in Jan you have to watch out. We go in Jan each year and something big always seems to change right before our trip.

I wouldn't sweat it at this point. I would bet that the general snack lists & policies don't change. Although this year's allowed snacks up to $4.00, our experience was that most snacks most places did not actually cost $4.00. And some of people's favorite choices were well under that. (Including the Mickey ice cream bar we all love.)

...somewhere on the DU site there's wording to the effect that the list is not all-inclusive and other snacks may qualify at the discretion of individual vendors...which would basically be the same as this year. I would expect that to continue.

so the list posted on this board is current and correct?? because it shows a WHOLE LOT MORE than just popcorn,coca-cola and mickey ice cream bars :rotfl: and i was super looking forward to some of the things listed!!! and big hugs to whoever made that ginormous list!! I just don't get why thye would use that sort of wording saying free snack is soda, popcorn or chips as opposed to saying snack credit can be used up to $4.00, choices may vary by vendor.. kwim?

In 2008, it appears that a snack credit could, in general, be used for any item that costs less than about $4 and constitutes a single serving. This listing went beyond the specific listing in the brochure. In many places, I'd guess you'd need to ask if you can use a snack credit for a specific item. In other places, the menus and snack items are marked with a symbol that says you can use a DDP snack credit.

The listing on this board is just a list of what other Disboarders were able to get for snack credits.

I would guess that no one will know for sure what will happen in 2009 until 2009 travelers start reporting back about what they could get as snacks.

oh i'm not worried about 2009 lol!! i'm worried about 2008. i just happened to browse 2009's listings and that's what made me curisou to look at 208's. but if the list on this board is what's offered as of current with the dxdp then i'm happy!!

The other thing I wonder about with the $4 limit is that many of the really loved but near the top of the snack price point are they going to up some of the snacks above $4? That might be a magic number in terms of people willing to buy stuff though so maybe they would shrink portions again rather than raise prices? I do know we had a number of things like funnel cake, caramel corn, elaborate ice cream things that were right at $4 and that was in Jan before prices of ingredients escalated....

Will Goofys Candy shop still sell single person candy as a snack? Thank you if you have the answer for me.

When I was there this past May I was on the DxDDP, so had two snacks a day for a seven nights stay. For my snack credits I got: 6 beignets at POFQ, a huge piece of carrot cake at Main Street bakery, an Apple Charlotte at Main Street bakery, three pastries (Raspberry Schuss, Napoleon, and a Pralineige) at the French bakery, a strawberry shortcake at Sunshine Seasons and still had seven snack credits left my last day, which I used at Goofy's Candy Store to get a huge carrot cake cookie, German Chocolate cookie, a milk chocolate mint slab smoothie, and four pieces of fudge to take home. Yes, I was allowed to use all seven snack credits at the same time at Goofy's and I also got three pastries at the same time from the French bakery and had them put them in a box for me to keep in the room fridge for a couple of days for breakfasts. I was traveling solo, by the way.

In Dec I got a fried Snickers, a kaki gori, pastries in Norway, Dole Whip floats, Strawberry Swirl, and bowls of fresh pineapple or grapes at AK, a caramel sundae at the food court, and again a bunch of treats my last day at Goofy's (to take home).

Last late Sept/Oct we used snack credits on the Food and Wine Festival offerings (including $6.00 lobster rolls). The only thing we couldn't use them on was alcohol. Other than my first trip on the DDP back in Sept '05 I don't think I've ever used a snack on just the things listed in the brochure.

Pictures..or non of what you said happened :rolleyes1

Thanks for all the info

I am really counting on using the snack option for the booths at the Food and Wine Festival. I am even going to get the concierge to convert some TS credits to snacks because I am not going to eat much TS but I will spend 2 days grazing through the F&W Festival!

I looked at the menus in the booths and all I can say is YUM!

We used snack credits on corn dogs in MK.

I tried to use one on a bottle of water in Fort Wilderness and was told that since the bottle was larger than one serving (it was under $4), I could not use a snack credit. I guess it was a liter.

Frankly, some of those desserts look like more than one serving.Wow!:scared1:
