I need some help on what to do for breakfast on the DDP. We won't be using counter service most of the time- possibly once if we really want hot breakfast food but that's it. TS credits are used up for dinners.

I'm going with DH for the first time in September (our first anniversary! :bride:). This will be his first visit since he was about 8.

Now, I've been to every free dining they've offered in September with my mom(it started in 2006 I think) and we had our routine down pat. We'd bring instant (low sugar) oatmeal for me and bagels for mom and eat those in the room before we headed to the parks for the day. It kept our time eating in the morning to a minimum and allowed us to use our snacks for fun stuff, bottled water or souveniers.

DH and I really only differ on eating in the mornings- he gets up earlier so he can sit down and eat at the table before work whereas I am fine just eating in the car or bringing something for my desk. He won't be a room eater, I already know that. I eat healthy in the mornings (oatmeal, healthy cereal- something that won't spike my blood sugar and make me starving at 10am :rotfl:) and DH can eat a cinnamon roll for all he cares :lmao:

I'm afraid there isn't much on the list at POR I could eat. Is the fruit bowl enough for breakfast? Is the yogurt parfait really sugary? Should I bring a granola bar or something to supplement? Anyone have any other quick options that have healthy choices?

This is the snack list for POR:

RIVERSIDE MILL FOOD COURT:
Fruit bowl
Yogurt parfait (not build-your-own)
Brownie
Cookie
Cheesecake with or without strawberries
Carrot or Chocolate Cake $3.59
Apple pie (Danish)
cinnamon roll
Assorted Muffins $2.79
Danish
applesauce
Mickey rice krispie treat
Ice cream cone
Sundae
2 breadsticks w/marinara sauce
cup of soup
Milkshake
Bottled iced tea
Powerade
juice
milk

They also had a bagel with cream cheese as a snack credit. We just came home 2/22.

The fruit bowl is large enough for a breakfast, imo.

There is a small container of cereal, but milk for it will cost you another credit!

A large bowl of cereal with milk is a cs credit. (didn't seem worth it, but we had lots of cs credits that we weren't using so the kids got cereal one morning.)

honestly i wouldn't wanna waste my snack credits on breakfast when you could easily pack him some oatmeal packs, granola bars or other breakfast type foods to eat in the room. there is a table in the room and he could sit down and eat his breakfast and drink his am coffee/tea whatever in the room while you get ready.

I'm bringing back this thread as I am also interested in healthier breakfasts at POR... can you get just a side of eggs or a side of sausage as a snack credit?

Because I'm not big into sugary snacks, I wouldn't mind using two snack credits for breakfast to have eggs and sausage... and I still would have a mug for a drink. I can't eat potatoes and have to limit starches, so most full meal CS breakfasts wouldn't work for me without having a bunch of food wasted.

I ususually do the granola bar thing (kashi for me, or what have you) and then you can usu. get a piece of fresh fruit places to keep you going at the park . For example in AK, at Harambi fruit market you could get a banana on your way to the safari. Fruit is also available in DHS (Anaheim Produce stand, also trail mix or carrots, big pretzels).

When we were at Pop Century in 2008, we used snack credits to get my mom oatmeal for breakfast every day--it came with brown sugar and raisins on the side. No clue if POR has the same, or even if it's still a snack credit.

Yogurt Parfait--I've had ones at different Disney locations, I didn't find it overly sweet, and you get the protein from the yogurt to help start your day vs. the pure natural sugar of a fruit bowl.

The make your own yogurt parfait was delicious. It used plain yogurt and you could have them put in a variety of fruits, granola, cereal etc. It's pretty large and filled me up for a while.
