Snack Around the World!

Great thread - I'm so looking forward to trying the salted caramel candy from Germany! I'm from the Uk and I'm so pleased many of you like our fish & chips - I've never actually had them whilst at WDW - as for British fish & chips to taste the best you have to eat them in the traditional way - that is in the cold when it's pouring with rain! :rotfl:

Oh those chocolates are GOOD.

I love fish and chips! I like to sit and eat them while I listen to whatever band happens to be in the UK pavilion. Is it better in Rose & Crown though? I've heard it is.

We have done this for years, this is our main meal of the day usually at least 2 or 3 times per trip, (main reason to park hop). We usually get one or two things and share them. We are strictly CS customers with a TS thrown if we feel like it.
England--fish and chips
France -- anything but usually a sandwich, strawberry tart, choc mousse
Germany-- bratwurst and any of the caramel things
Japan-- noodles and beef broth (forgot technical name for it)
Norway-- Pretzel and the fruit tart
USA-- turkey leg
We usually skip Morrocco, china.

We love a good snack around the world.

Norway-almond pastry

Mexico- we always go to the La Cava and have some good chips and salsa, even if you don't drink

American- jalapeno cheese pretzel

France- I love the macaroons but a jambon/fromage sandwich is tasty, too

UK- fish and chips, 'natch

Germany- caramel turtles; caramel popcorn- I could just stand in the store and sniff. I sometimes do but they find that odd and stare at me funny til I leave

Japan- I'll grab a to-go sushi box or Pocky Stix inside the store.

China- eggrolls

Morocco- anything sweet in the store

Now, mind you, we also have an adult beverage with these but several of these things would be good with a soda or coffee as well.

I recently went on a trip and it was during food and wine festival, but most of my goody eating was from the permanent stands. My husband had the fish and chips from UK and he liked them a lot.

I had the peanut butter caramel crunch cookie from Karamel Kuche and wasn't a fan, but I developed a very unhealthy relationship with the caramel corn. Very unhealthy.... :)

We also got a cream puff from Kringla (husband - I didn't try it) and a sweet pretzel with chocolate. I ate this two days later when I got home and it was still really good heated up!!

We go back in April and I can't wait to try new stuff!

April is a good time to go because the Flower and Garden Show. They do several booths of food and beverages that are specialties. ooooooh, I can't wait!

Also, why don't they just put a Tim Horton's in Canada already? Canadians rave about that place and I want to try a maple donut. They could also use a poutine stand.

Only if they make them the Canadian way. We had some Tim Horton's open up in CT a few years back, but they didn't last long. For some reason it wasn't the same as Canadian ones.

We have never done the snack around the world, but since this December we are doing the "Drink Around the World Passport", a snack around the world to go with it may not be a bad idea...interested to see what the consensus snacks are from each country!

The other thing we seem to do that has been a kind of tradition, is we get one thing totally "off the wall" (at least for we, as americans). Like the dried crab snacks or dried fish snacks at Japan or the Coffee in a can from Japan (mostly things from Japan, it seems) but we got the undrinkable coffee at Morocco once and with the $6 or $7 price tag we had to drink it.

Those coffee-in-a-can things are actually not bad. Most snacks in the Japan Epcot store are pretty tasty. You can't go wrong with chocolate. I'm not a huge fan of any seafood flavor savory snacks, but I love anything with toasted nori (seaweed) or spicy flavors, like chili peppers or wasabi.

Top post updated with latest suggestions! Thinking about reorganizing it somehow...

Does anyone recall if the gift shop in UK sells Cadbury chocolate? I think most Americans don't know how different it is and Cadbury Flake bars are definitely something to sample.

We have bought Cadbury chocolate before, although I'm pretty sure that we found it in the gift shop in Canada. My Sis and BIL live in Canada and bought it for my nieces to try. I think it was the Cadbury Aero bars. Definitely delicious! I do love Canadian chocolate. According to my BIL, Canada requires any chocolate labeled as milk chocolate to have a certain percentage of milk in it which raises the level of yumminess IMHO. Their Hershey Kisses are so good! I don't recall if I have had the Cadbury Flake bars before. I will have to ask my Sis to see if she can bring me a sample. ☺️

What were your favorites in each country? I've had school bread in Norway. I think we also had apple pie in America. Don't think we've ever stopped to eat at France. What's the "must try" item there?

hi, not sure on the names of what I ate in Norway, I kinda went by what I liked the looked of ;) I remember it was a cake and a type of quiche both were yummy, sorry cant be any more helpful than that, but I do know it wasn't the school bread.

America was the funnel cake just with the sugar on, but think I have read you can have fruit and chocolate sauce on it as well. think I will be trying that one next.

France was the éclairs and the crème brulee, their brulee is much nicer than the one in sunshine seasons, found that had an after taste to it that was a bit greasy :crazy2:
cal:)

yes the shop does sell English chocolates, off the top of my head I think I remember seeing Twix, Mars bars, Galaxy bars and Flakes, but there was more than that I just don't remember which ones. these are not all made by Cadburys though. they also sell biscuits and teas.
