Snack Around the World!

DD and I like to collect chocolates from around the world! Usually get 1 or 2 pieces in each country or sometimes get a bar to split for later.

One thing I liked about the F&W was that it wasn't all breads and desserts. I really would like to try some things that aren't sugar laden.

I like the fish and chips idea.

My son really liked some cheese dish that I think wasn't tied to a country. I need to figure out what it was and see if it is available somewhere.

I'm definitely following this thread! I'm going in January with just the two kids and no dining plan and this would be a perfect thing to do with them since we're all snackers (DH would rather just have one big meal but the rest of us are happy to nibble our way through the day!) Sharing something new and tasty in each country would be so much fun and it's great to read about everyone's favourites!

So glad this thread was started! My daughter and I plan to do this very same thing in December. We plan to share everything but you never know.......

Right now my only must have is the Kakigori in Japan. I have heard about it for years.

Last year this was one of the venues:

Cheese, Introduced:

Almond Crusted Blue Cheese Soufflé with Fig Jam - $3.25, Vegetarian, DDP Snack Eligible
Artisan Cheese Selection: Flagship Reserve Cheddar, La Bonne Vie Triple Crème Brie, Wijngaard Goats Gouda - $4.75, Vegetarian, DDP Snack Eligible

Can either of these be found in the park or was it special only for the F&W festival?

We ate around World Showcase for Father's Day this summer and had a blast! We took a picture with each snack we ate so I can include those too. We thought we would be stuffed but the five of us shared everything and we ended up still getting a larger snack each when we were done to substitute for dinner.

Our first stop was the UK for some fish and chips

We were staying at the Boardwalk and wanted to end up close to the International Gateway so we went towards Canada next. We got some maple sugar candy and I don't think any of us enjoyed it too much as it was very sweet.

In Mexico, we shared an order of cheese empanadas and loved them.

In Norway, we tried schoolbread for the first time. My sisters and I enjoyed it but our parents weren't as crazy about it.

In China, we had potstickers. They weren't anything special but fit the bill as something small-ish to share. You might notice in some of the pictures we are making pained faces; we were having fun but my youngest sister and I (me more than her) were feeling a little under the weather at this point of the trip.

In Germany we had a piece of chocolate covered caramel with sea salt.

In Italy, we had a cup of gelato

In America, we had a giant turkey leg

In Japan, we had kakigori. I believe this was the melon flavor.

In Morocco, we shared the Vegetable Platter (Falafel, couscous salad, hummus, tabouleh, lentil salad and olives). Though my face doesn't show it, this was probably my favorite thing we had all day but I love hummus and olives!

And finally, back to France for a croissant (and other snacks to take back to the room)

We had a great time and are planning on doing it again when we return to Disney World!

Following this.thread too!! I'm leaving in 23 days!!! Definitly one thing I normally get is egg rolls in China!!! Love them! Definitely Going to be.trying the salted Carmel in Germany!!

Caramel popcorn freshly made...THE BOMB!!

Those pics are great! Thank you for sharing! Glad to know I'm not the only one who thought of this. :)

By the way, does anyone know if refried beans are at the quick service in Mexico? We've only ever had them at a seated meal, but my daughter is kind of obsessed. We call them "frijoles magicos" because it's that delicious.

I recently went on a trip and it was during food and wine festival, but most of my goody eating was from the permanent stands. My husband had the fish and chips from UK and he liked them a lot.

I had the peanut butter caramel crunch cookie from Karamel Kuche and wasn't a fan, but I developed a very unhealthy relationship with the caramel corn. Very unhealthy.... :)

We also got a cream puff from Kringla (husband - I didn't try it) and a sweet pretzel with chocolate. I ate this two days later when I got home and it was still really good heated up!!

We go back in April and I can't wait to try new stuff!

Also, why don't they just put a Tim Horton's in Canada already? Canadians rave about that place and I want to try a maple donut. They could also use a poutine stand.

Great thread - I'm so looking forward to trying the salted caramel candy from Germany!
I'm from the Uk and I'm so pleased many of you like our fish & chips - I've never actually had them whilst at WDW - as for British fish & chips to taste the best you have to eat them in the traditional way - that is in the cold when it's pouring with rain! :rotfl:
