I am not a fan of flying but my DH and I are getting tired of the 7 hour drive to DL. Is flying into and out of SNA really that bad? I have flown in and out of many airports but not this one and have heard at times it can be a bit scary with the noise issue over OC.

Where are you flying from?

My favorite is Long Beach Airport (LGB), a small airport just 14 miles east of the Disneyland Resort. No issues of flight paths. Drawback, there are only 50 flights a day allowed by law, so limited service. But is always my first choice.

John Wayne/Orange County/Santa Ana would be my next choice (Also 14 miles from the DLR, this time south). The flight plan is a bit steep in take off and landing, but as a San Diego Native, there is nothing like the Lindbergh Field (SAN) decent into the airport. (Well, there are some international ones that are worse, but not many).

But give me a steep decent than having to deal with LAX any day of the week.

I'm not sure what you mean by the "noise issue over OC" but we've found SNA to be a very easy airport to use and navigate.

Ditto. There is literally NOTHING "bad" about flying in or out of SNA. It is the best airport in the entire Southern California region, in my opinion. I love everything about it and will pay MORE just to use it. It is clean, compact, efficient, well provisioned, modern, and FAST to get through security and baggage claim. I live about 15 min away from SNA and it is our airport of choice when flying out.

The descent into SNA is not steep...all planes take a very gradual path in from the east.

The takeoff is a bit steep but not really noticeable...it is followed by a quick turn, usually north, along the coast (with some amazing views) before looping back around and beginning the flight path. I find it fun.
