I this is a silly question, but I keep seeing this in kids menus. What is it? Does that mean PB&J?

Yes, it's basically a peanut butter and jelly sandwich without the crusts. Quite nice.

It's a packaged sandwich, the kind of thing they sell to throw in school lunches.

You can buy them in most grocery stores in the frozen foods... You can have your kids try them before shelling cash out or using dining credits...

Just a warning though, they contain GMOs, artificial preservatives, artificial coloring and various other chemicals believed to cause cancer and increase symptoms of things like ADD/ADHD, etc.

They also contain various forms of added sugar that are not necessary.

just a heads up that they may not be the best choice to make.

 and was just trying to find a healthier alternative to fried chicken fingers, etc Good point though. Thanks for bringing it up.

And depends as well on if white bread or whole wheat

I wouldn't choose it if you are looking for healthy alternatives.

I think they are nasty, so does my son.

:thumbsup2

And my son can't have it because it has both corn syrup AND HFCS in it. Those make him insane.

Once we figured out those problematic ingredients, we realized the cause of many, many horrid zoo trips that generally involved me carrying him kicking and screaming (and trying to head butt me) up all the steps (what sort of zoo involves like 3 flights of stairs to get to the gates?) to get to the car. Oh what joy... But it was actually an Uncrustable at Disneyland that helped us as we figured out what exactly he was reacting to...

As white as can be.

Here's a great website for info on what you're getting and healthier alternatives. I use the app while shopping all the time, you can scan barcodes for instant information about each product

Smucker's Uncrustables, Peanut Butter & Grape Jelly Sandwich

Yikes...that's awful. Look at the ingredient list. Haven't heard of that product here in Canada. When I give my kids PB&J, I use natural peanut butter (i.e. only ingredient is peanuts) and natural jam (no sugar added) and put it on whole wheat bread or bagel. Definitely skipping it. Thanks for the info.

I think they are pretty good and convenient for travel and amusement parks. Not something nutritious for every day but fine for vacation.

Would you be willing to make your own PB&J sandwiches before heading into the park? I know some the CS places have turkey sandwiches too.

My son won't touch turkey...he's quite picky. We only get 1 QS per day so may end up making our own breakfast or lunch. Or for the week, I may just have to accept that eating won't be very healthy (and many have chicken fingers, pizza, etc).

It does have the yoga mat ingredient ( azodicarbonamide) that Subway was embarrassed into removing from their bread.
