Smolders, Blisters, and Getting Punched in the Stomach! Our April 2011 Adventure!

I'm like your mom, I love the boat ride to DTD! We always do DTD on arrival day...gets us in the Disney mood....great pictures btw!:yay:

Great update! :thumbsup2

I love the photos you took, especially the one inside the Pin Trading store. I miss that place so much, as if you can miss a store but still pin trading in general (<3) Downtown Disney is definitely a place that people downrate, I've had so much fun there, even with just window shopping. I also love that picture of the gator, so awesome. POFQ is intriguing me A LOT more. Can't wait to hear about your adventures in the parks!

Update soon! :mickeyjum

Thanks! :) I love photography and took over 1300 pictures, so this will be a very photo-heavy trip report. :P We love to browse through Downtown Disney, even just to get an idea of what kinds of souvenirs we'll have to choose from (we do most of our shopping at Mousegear and the Emporium.) POFQ is amaaaazing. 'Nuff said.

That is awesome! Congrats to you and your team. :cool1:

Great trip report so far. Your dog is soooo cute!! My dogs know when we are going away as soon as they see the suitcases.

Thanks! It was the first time competing for most of us, and our school hadn't won since 2004, so it was a huge shock to all of us. I was a witness and my character's nickname was Tinkerbell, so I loved the little bit of Disney my role had. :)

It's so heartbreaking with the dogs, isn't it? I'm very glad Jazzy doesn't cry. I don't think I'd ever be able to leave.

Those spoons were really cute! We thought about buying it too but ultimatley decided against it. We did get the Mickey wisk though.

We got the wisk in 2009, we love it! The spoons are very cute too. I knew Mom might not get them (since she was obsessed with buying her spoon rest) so I got them for her.

I'm like your mom, I love the boat ride to DTD! We always do DTD on arrival day...gets us in the Disney mood....great pictures btw!:yay:

Same! We were going to just do DTD but we arrived so early (I forgot to mention we arrived just before 11 that morning) that we wanted to do a park too.

I'M IN!!!:cool1::banana:Can't wait to read morepopcorn::popcorn::

Thanks! New chapter coming up!

Okay, I'm in!

I caught on to your PTR too late, and now I've found this late, too (I didn't originally recognize your picture in this thread as compared to the picture in your PTR thread, and I couldn't remember your SN) but I'm so excited to hear about this trip! You and your mother remind me so much of me and my mother - we're going for my 17th birthday for my first trip since I was 3 this October! Anyway, I'm very excited to hear about all your Disney adventures. :)

Thanks for joining in! That's so cool that you're going this fall, Mom and I are already trying to plan one more trip before I go off to University next fall. :p

The treehouse villas do look really neat, too bad they are so expensive!

They're so cool! When I told my friend about them she immediately said "WE'RE GONNA GO TO DISNEY AND STAY IN A TREEHOUSE." :rotfl:

So we were sleeping and watching Disney Channel. :cloud9: We had Crystal Palace reservations at 7:05, so we figured we could sleep for a few hours, considering we had gotten back to the room at 2. We finally rolled out of bed at around 5ish and got ready to go to the Magic Kingdom!

There was this great little shortcut to the buses right near our room, which was super-convenient.

Disney2011131.jpg

Magic Kingdom had EMH that night until 3AM! We figured we'd just go until we could hardly stand. We weren't trying to make any park openings the next day, so we figured we could go for it. We hopped on a bus a few minutes after getting to the bus stop and I pulled on my Tigger ears.

Disney2011133.jpg

The bus ride from French Quarter to Magic Kingdom is really not too far, we never actually timed it but when I look at the timestamps on the pictures, the tigger ears picture was taken at 5:45 and the one at the gates taken at 6:04, so it was a very quick ride!

I love this "Let The Memories Begin" sign that was at the front of the MK.

Disney2011137.jpg

We went under the underhang and picked up our maps and headed into what was supposed to be a very busy park day... but it wasn't! Maybe it was because we were just arriving at 6 or if everyone was somewhere else, but it didn't look too bad to me. All of a sudden, we heard the Celebrate You song playing from the end of Main Street. We were a little confused, but kept going. We rounded the corner and saw this.

Disney2011138.jpg

The Move It Shake It Celebrate It party had just ended, and the parade was coming back up the street. WE WERE BEING GREETED AT THE MAGIC KINGDOM FOR THE FIRST TIME IN TWO YEARS BY A GAGGLE OF CHARACTERS AND STILT WALKERS ENCOURAGING US TO CELEBRATE OURSELVES.

I may have cried.

Okay, I definitely cried. But I had my dark sunglasses on. So nobody noticed.

Disney2011146.jpg

The characters were waving at us, the Mad Hatter gestured to his ears and gave me the thumbs up (which confused me until I remembered my Tigger ears), Minnie waved, Chip and Dale waved, Donald waved, and we were just so happy I was convinced I was going to explode. After the BEST ENTRANCE EVER, we still had some time to kill before dinner. We took some photopass pictures on Main Street (we preordered the CD). We checked out Tiana and Naveen's meeting spot (we just missed them but we wanted to go back after dinner) and continued to just look around and soaked in the Disney.

Disney2011173.jpg

We headed to Adventureland and decided to walk through the Treehouse since it was not very crowded and wouldn't take very long to wander through.

Disney2011158.jpg

This picture reminds me of Hogwarts with the stairs going down.

Disney2011164.jpg

A great view of the MK!

Disney2011167.jpg

After our adventure, we headed toward the Crystal Palace to check in a little early for dinner.

Disney2011171.jpg

We got our pager and waited for only about 10 minutes before we were seated in one of our favourite restaurants! I love being seated a little early. We were surprised with some confetti on the table, which really confused both of us as it wasn't our birthday.

Disney2011176.jpg

It turns out that when we made our reservation, the woman asked us if we were celebrating anything and Mom mentioned that it was our mother-daughter trip and I guess she marked it as a celebration, so we got some confetti. I kept most of it and put it in my lanyard pouch, but it all fell out.

We ordered drinks and headed up to get some food! Mom took a picture of hers, I did not. But we had almost the exact same things, we love the cinnamon-lemon rice they have, so good!

Disney2011177.jpg

And of course, we got the characters too. Tigger and Piglet came first, and about 20 minutes later we got Pooh and Eeyore.

Disney2011181.jpg

Disney2011189.jpg

Disney2011199.jpg

Disney2011197.jpg

I also got my favourite Crystal Palace dessert of a sugar cookie and ice cream with sprinkles. :rotfl:I'm 17 going on 5, folks.

Disney2011191.jpg

After an amazing dinner, we headed out of the restaraunt and went immediately for Tiana's meet and greet. We were just in time for their next meeting!

Disney2011208.jpg

It was about a 25 minute wait, but we would have waited even longer. They were so funny! The little girl in front of us didn't want to see Naveen, and when he opened his arms for a hug she ran back to her mom crying, so he ran around and flailed his arms and wailed too. :rotfl:Then he climbed up onto the ledge while the little girl met Tiana and called down "LOOK! I'M A TREE FROG!", he was clowning around and it was hilarious.

It was my turn next and they asked where we were from, and when I responded, he started reciting the national anthem. Not singing it, reciting it. "O Canada, our home and native land, true patriot love and... something.... THE LAND OF POUTINE!" :rotfl: Then Tiana looks up from her signing a cardstock piece for our scrapbook and goes "Now, I've never had it, is it good?" So I replied that it was pretty good (it's not my favourite, but it's okay.) and Naveen was excitedly asking if it was common where we were from and was interested in our region (around Toronto). And then he looked at the video camera and said "TORON-TOAD". So I made the drum noise that punctuates jokes (like "budd-um-bum CHHHH") and they decided I should be their sound effects person, just standing in the corner. :rotfl: They were so good, and she was gorgeous too.

Disney2011211.jpg

The photopass pictures were far better.:wizard:

So we left Tiana's place and headed off to Liberty Square to have some more magic!

(I meant to do 2 parts today but we were super busy this afternoon. I'll try to get some more up tomorrow, I'm having a ton of fun writing this!)

Next chapter: Magic Kingdom part 2 "Now that's what I'm talkin' bout!"

Subbing in! Your trip sounds awesome and I can't wait to hear more about your Smouldering good time with Flynn!

I can't believe Naveen said Toron-toad,kinda cheesey:lmao:,but kinda disneyish:rotfl2:.Love the TR can't wait 4 more!!!:cool1:popcorn:::dance3::yay::woohoo:

Toron-toad! Oh, that's awesome. Seriously, that right there is exactly my brand of humor!

Anywayyyy, I am so excited by this trip report. I showed my mom the picture of you're entrance to the MK, and she smiles and says "We'll be there before you know it! And then it'll all be over just as fast! :thumbsup2" all cheery-like. Oh. Hey. Thanks. That's a cheery thought, Mom, thanks.

Anyway, your Naveen and Tiana interaction sounds totally awesome... Naveen was in a fabulous mood! :wizard: And you're ears are totally awesome.

The boat rides at Disney are so nice and relaxing I can totally understand your mom's excitement :thumbsup2

How nice of you to buy that for your mom! I bet she loved it!

Your Tigger ears are adorable! :cutie:

Aw what an awesome way to be welcomed back!!!

You're dinner at CP sounds like a lot of fun!

I love meeting Tiana and Naveen they are always a ton of fun!

Can't wait to hear about the rest of your night!

Great update!

Sounds like you had a lot of fun in Magic Kingdom. I've always wanted to meet Naveen and Tiana. I can only imagine the chaos that ensues with them. That ice cream from Crystal Palace looks SOOO good. I think I may have gotten it when I was there, I'm not sure but it looks so creamy *drools* Now, I'm hungry thanks to your TR!

Update soon!

I'm loving your TR, especially the story about Tiana and Naveen.

When I met them back in August they also asked me where I was from and when I said Canada Naveen started singing the national anthem too making up his own lyrics. They pictures are so funny because of how hard i'm laughing at him in them.

I can't wait to hear more:goodvibes

You gotta love CP! It's one of our fav's too!

I love the interaction you have with Tiana and Naveen...I was cracking up!

We love it! We were super bummed we didn't get to do breakfast, which is our favourite meal there (we had an 8:05 but cancelled it when the park hours changed, we swapped it for a lunch on the same day). But we love dinner too.

I love Tiana and Naveen! I haven't actually seen the movie but Tiana was so pretty and Naveen was quite nice to look at too, I had to get a picture. I want to see it now!

They're a lot of fun. This trip, they were in my top 3 character interactions (Rapunzel and Flynn was the best and a surprise one later in the trip). The ice cream is amazing! The sprinkles are hidden around the back of the machine, which I thought was weird. I had to search for them.

The boat rides at Disney are so nice and relaxing I can totally understand your mom's excitement :thumbsup2

She really loved the boat ride, we got to do the Hollywood Studios-Epcot one later which made her quite happy. She loved the measuring spoons and stuff too!

Thanks :) I got them in 2007, I didn't see as many non-mickey ears this trip! I wanted some Stitch ones.

Subbing in! Your trip sounds awesome and I can't wait to hear more about your Smouldering good time with Flynn!

Thanks! Yes, it was a smouldering good time. ;)

Your mom is right, it does go by before you know it! Make sure to soak it all in as much as possible. ;)

After we said goodbye to Tiana and Naveen, it was only about 8:30 and we had a whole park to explore! So we headed toward Liberty Square and the Haunted Mansion only had a short wait so we hopped in line.

The new queue was up and running and it was very fun! I didn't take many pictures but there were instruments that made noise when you touched them, books that popped out of the shelves, and more little surprises around every corner! We did take a little longer in the 'fun' lineup but it was worth it.

Disney2011212.jpg

We also loved the ride, it's one of our favourites! The 'hitchhiking ghosts' part wasn't working, and little did we know that they were creating even more surprises in that part that I'd get to experience in just a few days!

After our ride we decided to ride some of our Fantasyland favourites. We headed here first:

Disney2011214.jpg

It's my favourite 3D show in Disney, I love it so much. We met some lovely people who we chatted with while we were waiting, they had been in Disney when the huge storm hit just before we arrived. We swapped favourite rides and just had a nice talk before the show began.

Disney2011218.jpg

The show was amazing, we got really wet during the brooms part, way more soaked than usual! And we were seated close to the front which was also cool. I can't get enough Philharmagic!

Next Mom really wanted to ride the carousel since it was all lit up, so I obliged and we walked right on.

Disney2011227.jpg

After our carousel ride (we got "Colours of the Wind" for our song, it was so cool hearing it in carousel form!), we decided to check out the new look that Winnie the Pooh had!

Disney2011230.jpg

Disney2011233.jpg

We love these new interactive queues that Disney is starting to do! Since the ride was practically deserted we explored the little play area and it was so cute. What a good idea!

Disney2011235.jpg

We got on the ride after our playing and it was great, as usual. We love the Pooh ride. :) When we came out, we walked right into the middle of Wishes! We found a place where we could see the fireworks on both sides and I whipped out the camera. It was cool watching Wishes from there, we could still see them but it was almost empty since it was not a common area to watch.

Disney2011265.jpg

After a while, this custodial CM nearby us was watching the fireworks too, and started to point out to me where they were going to come from next so I didn't miss a single one. He was so excited over the same fireworks he probably sees every night and was sharing his excitement with us.

Disney2011278.jpg

On the video camera you can hear him going "Okay, now back to the castle! Spin around this way again! Okay, they're coming from both sides now!". It was such an amazing memory :) And at the end of the fireworks, on the camera you can hear him shouting "NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' BOUT!" :wizard: So thanks for the magic, Carlos!

Even after the fireworks, we were still ready for more Magic Kingdom! So we headed toward the teacups for a late-night ride.

Disney2011282.jpg

I love how they look at night. The crowds were virtually nonexistent in Fantasyland, there was a Main Street Electrical Parade at 11, so we assume all of the crowds were there.

We headed to Tomorrowland next and rode Buzz Lightyear!

Here's my score, not too shabby for the first ride of the trip. ;)

Disney2011297.jpg

After Buzz we went to ride the TTA. When we got in the car, Mom said to the guy who was loading us with the big Mickey gloves "She just kicked my butt on Buzz!" and he asked what my score was and when I replied, I got a Mickey-glove high 5. :) We are NOT fans of the new TTA spiel at all. It made us sad. :( The old one was our favourite thing!

We headed back by way of Fantasyland in hopes of getting to Big Thunder Mountain for another ride. We were really hungry and tired, so we decided to get root beer floats from the ice cream shop and then head back to the resort. It was about 11:30 at that point and since I hadn't napped much in the afternoon, I'd almost been awake for 20 hours with only a little break. We got floats (which were delicious) and then headed back down Main Street. It was 11:45 when we decided to go.

Disney2011302.jpg

As we reached the entrance, we noticed the new character place had very short lines, so we decided to see Mickey and the princesses before going home.

Disney2011304.jpg

Disney2011306.jpg

Disney2011307.jpg

These were great Princesses, very in-character. We went out the door and back around to see our favourite mice!

Disney2011308.jpg

This bunny was so cute, its ears wiggled and it made munching noises. :lovestruc

Disney2011309.jpg

Disney2011311.jpg

Finally, our first Disney evening had come to an end. We dragged our tired selves all the way down to the French Quarter bus stop and luckily got seats, it wasn't too crowded. We dragged ourselves through the shortcut, up the stairs and right into bed.

Next chapter: "This is unacceptable! I want green!"

Great update!

I love your picture of part of the new HM queue. If only my school trip was planned for later or I had gone for my first time this year rather than last year. I would've seen all the updates. It is annoying :( LOL And it sounds like you had fun with the characters and your new CM friend! :goodvibes I can't wait to hear more, looks like you did a ton.

Update soon!

Cute pictures with the characters. :thumbsup2 I really like the new backgrounds for the princess pictures, much nicer than the gold and red curtain look from Toontown.

Loving your report so far, you are a great writer. I loved the interaction my DS has had with Tiana and Naveen. It's great to hear they are like that with everyone, notjust the little ones. I also loved your interaction with Carlos, it is nice to hear that an employee feels the same as we do about the fireworks. There is nothing like fireworks in Disney, they are Magic! Look forward to hearing more.

I love HM and I can't wait for the new queue!!

I also love Philharmagic!

Sounds like a great night at MK!

The new character place is so cute!

Can't wait to see what happens on your next day!
