What is the story with smoking onboard? Are there areas of the boat that are non-smoking? What about the dining rooms?
:confused3

No smoking is allowed in the staterooms, the Dining Rooms, the Kid's Clubs, the theaters, the shops, etc. I think it is allowed in select bars and "nightclub" spots - one or two of them are non-smoking during the day when there is family-time and then switch to smoking at 9 or 10pm. I'm sure someone else can be more specific. If you are concerned about being around too much smoke, I wouldn't be!

Flexsmom has it correct.

Adult clubs allow smoking after 9 pm....although I seem to recall seeing a post somewhere on this board that one club is now smoke free all the time.

However, we attended a number of family events in those clubs during the day and they still had a strong smell of smoke in them. The one time we went in to a club after 9 pm, we had to leave because of the smoke.

From what I've read, smoking is not allowed in staterooms, but is allowed on the verandah's. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

You are not wrong. They have an ashtray right on the verandah wall.

Smoking is not allowed on a Disney ship except in the adult clubs (except the Promenade Lounge), any open air area and verandas. The smoking lounges stink at all times and are un usable for non-smokers. The Plexiglas shield around most of deck 9 (where the pools are) keep the smoke lingering. In effect, the only smoke free spaces are your own cabin (hope that no one smoked in it the cruise before you), the restaurants, passageways and the shops.

It's not just Promenade anymore...smoking is also currently banned in Wavebands/Rockin' Bar D at all times and is limited in Diversions to certain times.

Duckielucky must be very sensitive to smoke, and I know there are people like that. My son is very reactive to it and he didn't have any issues on Deck 9, nor did my slightly finicky, always-looking-for-something older mom who came home after 2 weeks away from our house when I was a teenager, and immediately asked which of my friends had lit-up in our house! (OK, so one person lit one ciggarette, which I immediately had them extinguish - and somehow she instantly knew!) At any rate, while I do believe that some people may have trouble if they are sitting close to someone smoking on Deck 9, in two cruises I haven't detected it, unless it was right next to me.
