Smoking area at contemporary - walkway from Garden to main tower??

We are staying in a garden view room and I found a map ( not sure of its age) that shows smoking right on the walkway (or close to the tower) that we would have to walk to get to the main tower. We are very sensitive to smoke. Can anyone tell me if this area is bad…heavily smokey? I looked and it looks like all 4 walk areas to the tower have designated smoke areas.

I don't remember ever seeing anyone smoking under or near the walkway from the Garden Wing to the main tower. I just opened the Disney World app and the Guest Services layer on the map shows a few smoking areas throughout the resort, including 2 towards the "hub" of the garden wing near the parking lot. I don't remember seeing anyone smoking while there on our last 2 trips.

I wouldn't worry too much about it but maybe include a note in a room request or call to see if they can put a note on the reservation with your preference to be away from any smoking area.
