Smokers --Question about Images on Cigarette Packages

Some are addicted. Others smoke because they like it.

And they can quit anytime they want.

The little graphic pix aren't going to deter them because smokers don't really believe that cancer, heart disease, miscarriage, and COPD will happen to them. They are somehow magically immune--until they develop CAD or emphysema or cancer. Then there is great wailing and gnashing of teeth and promises to change.

Non-smokers get cancer, heart disease, and have miscarriages all the time. Maybe it's not that they think they're "magically immune"... maybe it's that they think these things could happen whether they smoke or not??

I think the government should stay out of it.

I agree the government should stay out of it, I find all this talk about weight and smoking just gets irritating. I mean the non smoking ads are anoying and I don't smoke (was told to stop smoking by my gp when I met him because of course all factory workers smoke!) and there was a recent scare saying being overweight was the cause of 30% of all cancers so what causes the other 70%#
