Is there any support for this.......especially around the entrances to trails end, crockets tavern, the porch, hddr, and the marina areas...?

Heck yeah, I'd support it - I'd also support entirely smoke free parks too. But will it happen, who knows (one can hope)!

We were watching the electric water parade at the marina sitting on the chairs....there was a guy enjoying a cigar at the table next to us.....
there was no wind(wind usually dies down at night) and the stench just hung there like a halo.......

Even if they ban it in all those places, they'll hardly ever enforce it.

As long as they're not blowing it in my face, let them be I say.

I dont believe you will get much support for this, there was a previous thread sometime ago and many said thats why the use a camper and campsite. How about the BBQ'S they put out a lot of smoke. I dont smoke so it wouldnt bother me.

I agree and I'm a non smoker! Sometimes when I walk by those smoking places in the park it gags me worse then if I had one smoker walking beside me.

I would like to see No Smoking signs close to the entrances of the public places that you mentioned. It's so unhealthy to have to walk through a cloud of second-hand smoke to get into or out of a building.

I would and so would my family be in favour of a smoke free Disney all of it resorts parks etc. I know Disneyland resorts are now all smoke free so I hope they bring that to Florida I know my family would be happier.

As a tobacco company retiree, if/when WDW ever goes entirely smoke free I will stop visiting there.

One more spot opened for non-smokers like us.

Exctly what I was going to say if smokers don't like it they don't have to go same as non smokers but the majority of the population is becoming non smokers so something has to give. Like I said Disneyland resorts have gone all smoke free. Up here we have smoking bans in almost all public places unless it is specifically designated there is no smoking in bars and restaurants or public buildings like malls etc you are basically limited to smking in your car and your home. They are talking about ticketing people who smoke in their car with young children in the vehicle at the same time I hope they do as the parent certainly doesn't care about teh childs health and wellbeing if they are smoking in and enclosed small space like that with their kids in it.

if you are smoking outside, what is the big deal. I'm not a smoker

Smoking is more popular than ever in the Far East and Europe so I bet Disney wont want to give up that business. I'm still a non-smoker.

I remember that thread cause i started it and someone responded with "it's a campground for heavens sake". honestly, i don't mind campfire smoke like you get at regular campgrounds, but i'll be darned if i want to sit out at night and relax and be downwind of someone's smokey stench from their cigarettes! Or have it blowing into my opens windows at a close campsite. I think it might eventually happen, as i never thought bars and restaurants in our area would go that direction...and they finally have....so it might take awhile but very well may happen at FtW sometime too.

I seriously doubt they will ban smoking at Fort Wilderness (except for public places like the restaurants, stores, etc...). Smoking is still legal in this country, and there are very few places that have outlawed smoking in the "open air". Yes, you could see more restrictions outside some of the more public places at Disney, but if you think you are going to see a resort wide ban on smoking, it's just not going to happen.

Let's remember, it's about making money. Non-smokers will return to Disney even if they have smoke blown in their face. Smokers will not return to Disney if they are told they can't smoke anywhere. Disney isn't about to give up that income.

P.S. I'm a non-smoker, and I hate having smoke blown in my face as much as the next person, but I also respect the fact that it is not an illegal drug.

As a former smoker. Yes its a nasty habit and smells bad. But most non smokers don't understand and just fell like fussing about it or make smart a$$ remarks about it. as long as they are out doors let them be.

I wouldn't mind seeing certain public areas like the porch at Crockett's turn smoke free. It can get pretty disgusting there. As far as your own campsite, though, I have no issues with smoking as long as they don't burn something down.

As an aside, I find it ironic that laws are being passed to ban smoking in areas, yet federal and state governments profit from cigarette sales through taxes. Despite the undisputed fact that cigarettes are a health risk, and that smokers add additional strain on an already overburdened health industry, when it comes to outright banning them (as the federal government has done with certain food additives in the past for much less risk to our health) the government does absolutely nothing. But then, I shouldn't be surprised - I have been under federal employ for over 27 years and a health care provider for 24 of those.:confused3

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: While we are banning smokers ....... Let's ban men and women who pour a bottle of perfume or conlone on them selfs and the teens axe spray, and guests with bad breath.......:rotfl: :rotfl: Okay serious bussiness i too get tired of walking into a cloud of smoke expecially when im in a line waiting but as far as a campground....... let's get real!
