No. You can buy stuff to get more points, but you do not have to buy anything to get points. The only thing that I have bought was an Entertainment book for this year for $15. I got 750 points for buying it. I have about 4100 points everything except that is just clicking through emails.

I have not redeemed any of my points yet. If you go to the web site and click on rewards it will show you what you can get and how many points you need.
