I made dinner ressies at the CG and to watch Wishes. They told me that the dress code is "Smart Casual". Is it appropriate to for the men to wear dress shorts with a golf shirt and sandals? I would think that nice jeans and a golf shirt would not be appropriate but I am not sure.

What do you think is appropriate for "Smart Casual"?

Those 2 choices sound fine. I think something like a tank top and cut off jean shorts would not be appropriate.

I ate there last week. A golf shirt and a decent-looking pair of shorts are completely appropriate. I don't think jeans would be a problem, either. Tank tops and swimsuits are not good choices.

Yes, dress shorts nice shirt is included in smart casual...we just made the same ressie for CA Grill and Citricos and that is exactly how the castmember explained smart casual.

Enjoy!

And for women? Slacks and a jacket or sundress ok?

Perfect.
As you'll find out when you go, absolutely no one at CG is even going to care how you dress.
Except you.
So go with what YOU feel comfortable wearing.

From some materials which I received from YC concierge for our trip in Feb 2004, dress code for CG (and other nicer restaurants) is defined as "Dressy Casual," which is defined as "Collared shirt prefered for gentlemen. No tank tops, t-shirts, cut offs or jeans."

I guess the key word is "preferred".
We always go to CG in nice walking shorts and our brand-new Disney T's. And I can't recall a meal where I haven't seen someone in jeans.

I agree that it is only "preferred" and I think only by some of the concierge services. We've probably had dinner there 20 times and have never been told no jeans or t-shirts. Whatever term DD used, if I asked for elaboration I've always been told no tank tops, no swimwear. I also think the tank top thing is intended for men. I've seen women in very dressy tank tops there.

We like to dress up a bit but that is our personal preference. You will see a wide variety of dress at CG just as at most of the finer dining spots at WDW.

They are starting to tell people "collared shirts"-- that's what I was told when I reserved for September.

I'll wear a sleeveless dress and sandals-- not sporty sandals but not dressy. Husband will probably wear a dress shirt with jeans. Last time he wore a sports coat. It's all good.

Look for pictures of the restaurant and see what you think you'll feel comfortable wearing. I'm one who would rather overdress than underdress, others are the opposite, it's all good.
