My DH was the same way and our DS is following in his footsteps
DH was on the small side until he was about 16, I think. Now he is average size--about 5'9" and muscular. Our DS is only 5 and just started kindergarten. He is literally a head (about 6-8 inches) shorter than quite a few of his classmates. Luckily, we use the same pediatrician that my husband went to as a child--the ped keeps reminding me about how Daddy was
I try not to draw too much attention to DS's size--he is pretty sure he is as big as the other kids and I wouldn't want him to feel inferior.

I had to remind him that those SAME girls will be up to his belt buckle because they will stop growing and he'll shoot past them in high school. As for the teachers... I tell him that they had 23 years to get where they are!
