Just curious as to why someone would go w/one of these services versus AAA or any other travel agency. Anyone heard of Instant Impressions Travel Service? TIA
I LOVE LOVE LOVE Susie from Small world. She has made our trip planning such a breeze for the last 3 trips. If you pm me, I'll send you her deets. The great thing is, she applies discounts as soon as they come out so I don't have to worry about tracking them. (I still do b/c I'm a compulsive Disney planner, but I don't *have* to. )
I'm using Instant Impressions right now for our Spring Break trip and Sandy is awesome and very patient with all my resort changes!!! Using a Travel agent can save you time in research and planning if that isn't your thing. They are also always on the lookout for discounts that may apply for your stay. It's a preference thing, I am a research freak but since we will be staying on property for the first time it helped me to work with someone (a travel agent).
We are using Small World for the first time and it seems to be working out fine. We used a local TA in the past..and frankly, she wasn't very good. She booked the trip and all...but no discounts or helpful tips or anything.
I was all set to book this trip myself and then it turned into a huge, big family conglomoration. I don't know how or when it happened, but it turned from our family of 4 celebrating our oldest DS's HS graduation into a family party with 11 people so far. How'd that happen
I am very excited about this trip, but frankly, I wanted someone that they could call if something went wrong, other than me! She (Small World agent) has our AAA # to apply that when rates come out and I'm sure I'll use her for other stuff too. Very nice and funny lady.
I've had very good and excellent results with two different Small World TAs. Both tracked discounts and applied them for me, but one went above and beyond for me on one WDW visit.
If I'm traveling solo or with one other person, I tend to like to make all of my own arrangements. The need to contact someone to change or cancel a reservation can be a pain. That said, if traveling with a larger group, it's nice to have someone else coordinate everything!
Small World Agents (and I'd think the same is true for Dreams Unlimited ad other Disney Specialist agencies) are just as fanatic about Disney as we are, if not more so.They know about discounts and deals before most of the general public; they visit the Disney parks; I think most, if not all, visit Disney World for special training; they do 'everything' for the client if that's what the client wants (I make my own ADRs, but that's my choice, and I think flights are only done in conjunction with a package, I don't know if they can book separate air arrangements.
Anyway, I generally do all my own travel arrangements; but if I want a Disney package, it's easy to just call or e-mail "my" agent and let her do all the work!
My concern right now is I already have room only ressies w/WDWT for CSR in May 2007. To have another TA take over I'd have to cancel the above ressies and then contact Small World, etc. In the meantime I'm worried about losing my room. We've reserved a Junior Suite and theres only so many. If a conference books they might take all the suites!

You don't have to cancel your room, most travel agencies have a form for you to fill out and sign saying that it is ok for them to take over your reservation. They send that to Disney and their travel agency information gets put on it and therefore they can work on your reservation, etc
