I have seen pictures of Small World decorated for Christmas. Does anyone know when the transformation occurs? We want to plan a trip during Disneyland's 50th Anniversary, but would love to see Small World at the same time. Would also love to see the Haunted Mansion transformed into Nightmare Before Christmas. Would they both be do-able in October or is the switch closer to Christmas?

You'd have to switch closer to Christmas. October is when IASW is getting the makover. It usually opens the first weekend of November. That's when it opened last year. Plus, that weekend the Christmas parade and fireworks started (with "snow" after). The HM Holiday runs through the beginning of January, so it will still be up.

Haunted manion usually opens begining of October and stay till January, Small world usually opens begining of November and stays till January. Usually the last day is the sunday after January 1. Then they both go down to swich back to normal. There is a rumor that they may not be doing the switch next year because of the 50th. I don't really believe it (and if it's true I think they're making a big mistake). The haunted mansion makeover is actually a big money makeover for them because they sell tons of related merchandise, and have new little gimicks every year that brings in a bunch of money.

I'm not sure if we can make it in November or December. October is much better for us. OH WELL !! I guess we will have some tough decisions to make. The first time we were at Disneyland, Small World was closed (as well as most of Fantasyland) and Fantasmic wasn't running. So, you can see our luck isn't very good !!

Thanks for the info!!

Try checking the Disney website. I think on our last trip it might have told us when they were changing. I know we went the first week of Oct. and toward the end of the week the Mansion was opened as "Haunted Mansion". I thought though when I went at X-Mas one year that the mansion was back to normal. I'm not positive though.
