* Small update on Jorge * (UPDATED again, 2/18 - bottom pg 1)

They took him cold turkey of of the morphine drip & patch the end of last week. So he was having some withdrawl from that. I think he is doing better now though. The plastic surgeon released him from his care on Monday. They tried to have Jorge sit up and possibly stand up but once he sat up on the bed and tried to swing his legs over he got all dizzy. He has been laying in bed for over 2 weeks already so the blood rushing to his legs made him woozy. So that is what they have been working on (getting him up and out of bed) all week. They finally got him out of bed yesterday and he was sitting up in a chair. So today they are moving him up to the rehab wing of the hospital. At first they told him that they wanted to put him in a nursing home. An 18 year old in a nursing home??? Needless to say that did not go over well with him or his mother so I guess that is why they moved him to the other floor. Sunday is his 19th bithday - not sure if he will be home then.

Thanks for the update Christine... I am glad to hear that he is improving (as little as it is, it still is better tha nothing). So sad though that this happened and that he has to spend his birthday like that I will keep praying that he continues to recover.

Thanks so much for the update. I'm glad to hear that he's making progress. I hope they will let him do some water therapy when he is ready. Do they have any timetable for his recovery. I just can't believe all this poor kid has been put through. Is he still getting a lot of visitors? Let him know that we still hold him in our thoughts and prayers.

Yes, the girl (as of yesterday) is still in jail. She was denied bail.

UPDATE:

Laurie told me today that the girl who did this to Jorge and the other kids <b>will</b> be tried as an adult!! So as of yesterday she was taken out of juvenile jail and she has been put in jail with the "adults". She has a bail hearing tomorrow, her lawyer is trying to get her out but hopefully they will not because who knows what she will do. So hopefully they can keep her sorry but in jail till it goes to trial.

Jorge is still in the rehab part of the hosptial, Laurie says he could be there a month or 2 longer. He is getting up more and was even able to go outside yesterday for a few mins. I think that is bringing is morale up some but it is still hard on the poor kid. His skin grafting is healing well though, quicker than most people so that is good news!

Thats all for now, will see what happens and update about the bail hearing.

Thank you for another update! It is wonderful to hear that Jorge was actually able to go outside. That alone could do wonders but he also has youth on his side which I heard helps. I will continue to keep Jorge in my thoughts and prayers.

Awwww, my computer must have been down when you posted the first update. I'm gald he's doing well. I'm also glad to see that she is being prosecuted as an adult. What she did is not a petty crime.

I wish his all the best and will be anxious to hear when he's able to get home! That will make a world of difference to his spirit! Give his mom a {{{{Hug}}}} from me and ask her to pass it on!

I'm glad the culprit will be subject to adult consequences. She's certainly old enough to know better.
