Hi,

I'm in need of your help. I have booked a small meal/reception for 9 people at 1900 park fare for 17.30. I'm have doubts about have the meal there. I read bad reviews where people have said its really noisy and the food is not great.

I'd really like your options as to whether i should continue with my booking and what your experience of 1900 Park fare was or whether you think i should change locations.

Has anyone had a meal/reception at Portabello Yacht club? What did they do for special meals? And are you allowed to wear your dress at Downtown Disney?

If you think neither of these is a good idea have you got any suggestions for the meal.

Thank you for your help :headache:

You can definitely wear your dress at Downtown Disney and any of the resorts - just not inside the parks.

Several brides on this boad have had their reception meals at Portobello Yacht Club and loved it. If you do a search for PurpleGirl's trip report, she describes it in detail. I think someone else had a post-wedding lunch there recently - maybe she'll come along and share her experience too!

The food there is outstanding! For lunch it is usually not that busy. Most everyone that goes there for lunch are cast members. I am not sure what the transition to dinner is like.

Here I am! My trip report is in my siggy, if you would like to read it. We loved the Yacht Club. It was basically empty for lunch on the day of our wedding. Yes, you can wear your wedding dress. We went in the mid-afternoon, so they gave us both lunch and dinner menus, which was nice. They have everything from sandwiches to pastas to lamb (my dad ordered a rack of lamb. for lunch. he's crazy. :)).

As an earlier poster said, they are changing the Yacht Club to another restaurant, but I'm not sure of the timing. You might also want to consider Fulton's Crab House. It's also getting renovations, but I think they're just sprucing up what's already there. We considered Fulton's, but it had primarily seafood and some of DH's family are anti-seafood, so it didn't work out.

GL and let me know if you have any questions!

I just ready your TR purplegirl. I don't like seafood so the Crab house would be a no no for me :rotfl2:

Are the portion sizes large at the Portabella yacht club? Did you wear your dress? I've been in there for drinks. They make the most amazing Chocolate milkshake!!

Would you say that everyone in your party enjoyed the meal? And did they do anything 'special' to your table?

Thank-you

Hi there. I had my wedding luncheon at Portobello Yacht Club and was really pleased with my experience. The food was really good. They have several event menus that you can choose from or you can just order off of their regular menu. We chose one of the dinner menus even though it was lunch because I wanted something a little more "wedding-y." We had a flatbread pizza appetizer, salad, a choice of chicken or salmon and then we served our wedding cake along with chocolate covered strawberries. It was excellent and very reasonably priced. They didn't charge us a cake-cutting fee, which I thought was nice because a lot of places do!

As far as the atmosphere, I thought it was really nice and elegant. It's not exactly "pretty" in the way that the Grand Floridian Cafe or 1900 Park Faire are, but it is very classy looking. We sat in the Rose Garden Corridor, a private section, which was nice. Our table was covered in a while table cloth (they all are, I think) and I believe there were a few little bud vases with a rose in each of them. (I could be dreaming that part up though, lol.) They created personalized menus for us, which I wasn't expecting, and they were a nice little keepsake.

All in all, we were very pleased with Portobello Yacht Club. I would highly recommend them. The only thing I would caution you about is that I have heard rumors that they are doing a refurb sometime in the near future. I have no idea when that will take place, so it may not impact your event at all, but I just thought I'd mention it.

Good luck!

Everyone enjoyed their meal. Their steak sandwiches are delicious and filling; the guys loved them (it's literally steak on bread!). I had pasta, which I enjoyed as well. We had the option of sticking to a pre-planned menu (and thus, a pre-planned budget), but I wanted to give the guests the option to order whatever they liked.

Yes, I wore my dress. We didn't get anything special at the table, but that might be because I didn't really make a big deal over the whole "wedding reception" thing; just said we needed a private section. We were told there would be a cake cutting fee, but in the end, there wasn't one, thank goodness (not sure if that was beause they didn't know that they were supposed to charge one or because we gave them what was left of our cake for them to munch on!).

HTH!
