Small Contract Benefit

Okay, this a naive question, but I have to ask because I am getting different responses . . .

If I buy 50 points at AK and currently own 175 at BWV, what is the benefit of having a small contract at AK? I can pool them at the 7 month window - correct? But I can't at the 11 month window - correct?

I know of one benefit. They are easier to sell if you need to sell and fetch a higher price than a large contract. Come to think of it, I guess that would be two benefits.

One advantage of a small add on at a second resort is the booking advantage there.

With a 50 point contract at AKV, you could bank and borrow and use up to 150 points for a trip there using all AKV points at the 11 month window. Of course, in that scenario you could only do that once every three years.

Others buy small add on contracts because they only use studios, or live close enough to WDW that they don't use weekend points, etc.

And, as you said, many people use points within the 7 month window when home resort ownership isn't important.

For us, the small add-on didn't make sense so when we purchased additional points we got a contract at a second resort with virtually the same number of points as the original contract. That way, we bank one and borrow on the other and just switch off using points from each for the annual trips.

I'm wanting to make sure that I understand this DVC (Disney Vacation Calculus)

Say I have 150 pts at SSR and then buy a 50 pt AKV (which is what I want to do). I can make 11 month ressies at either place but only for the # of pts at each location like 150 worth at SSR or 50 worth at AKV.

Then at 7 months I could make a 200 pt ressie at either SSR or AKV or any DVC location?

Or, I could bank/borrow at each location and maybe alternate years at each location??
