I received this email from Disney today:

Thank you for selecting a Disney Cruise Line vacation. We are glad that you will be joining us for a 9-night Mediterranean and Greek Isles cruise.

We've recently been informed that there are a number of ships visiting Santorini on the same day of our planned visit. We know from experience and Guest feedback that these conditions can impact your experience ashore. Therefore, in order to provide our Guests with a great port experience, we have modified the order of your cruise itinerary to the following:

SaturdayCivitavecchia
SundayMessina
MondayDay at Sea
TuesdayHeraklion(previously Santorini)
WednesdayPiraeus
ThursdayMykonos
FridaySantorini(previously Heraklion)
SaturdayDay at Sea
SundayNaples
MondayCivitavecchia

We are confident this revised itinerary will provide for an overall better experience in Santorini and look forward to welcoming you aboard in 2020.

Sincerely,

The Cast and Crew
Disney Cruise Line

Those are all very close together (unless you're name is Odysseus and you're rowing back from a 10 year war with a curse on your head). Nice that they are trying to plan the best experience for guests.

I agree. I appreciate that they looked ahead and made the change, especially this far out before most excursions are booked.

That's wonderful that they were mindful of the number of ships in port and changed it. We vacationed in Santorini for a few nights in July 2018. It's a very small island and if there was more than one ship in port, wow. It became so crowded. It's a beautiful island so hopefully it will now be a more enjoyable experience for you with less ships in port.

I think it's great since I have heard that Santorini isn't fun when it's crowded. However, it can be a problem for people (like me, but I'm not on this cruise) who tend to book private tours early. Still, I like that they realized they could improve things for their guests.

When we were in Santorini last fall (off-season) we took the cable car up the side of the cliff, which was fine, but coming down the line was ridiculously long -- like a Disneyland queue. It moved quickly, but I hate to think how long the lines would have been if several ships had been in port that day.

If you're in good condition you can hike down the hill, but it's the same path the mules/donkeys use, so you have to watch your step. Or you can ride the animals, but: https://mygreecetravelblog.com/2013...uld-avoid-taking-the-mule-taxis-on-santorini/

We are booked on this cruise. Got an email from the mouse yesterday. I am pleased they are looking ahead. No privates booked for us yet, not sure what we are doing at any of the ports just yet. Disney has not posted their offerings and I want to compare.

No Donkey riding for me. Cable car, or given my fear of heights, but my determination to see Santorini, I'll hike.

I remember someone on the social media group for this cruise saying that there would be 7 ships in Santorini the same day and thinking it would be a nightmare. I'm glad DCL is looking out for us.
