Slowest DVC month?

Hi - we're trying to exchange our in-law's timeshare for a Disney timeshare. I spoke to Interval (my inlaws's timeshare company), and they mentioned that it's difficult, but not impossible, to do this. I can be very flexible with the dates, and don't care which vacation club we get into (to me, being on property beats offsite anyday). I need to call in our requests, and was just curious about slower months. Looking to go 2006 - thinking January or February? Does anyone have any feedback?

JMHO - the easiest months to get into the WDW DVC resorts are September and January.

We were at OKW in February and it did not seem to be too crowded when we checked in, which was 2/1. It may have picked up in activity after that (it was SuperBowl week), but it did not seem overly crowded. We met a fellow who stays in an OKW studio for the entire month of February every year. I don't know if this is normal for February as it is the first time I have visited at that time. As far as January goes, I have not visited a DVC resort in January, but have visited WDW in January. The only time I would be concerned about would be the MLK holiday weekend - crowds really picked up - in general - at that time. I would think that would impact DVC as well.

the weeks for DVC that I seem posted are May, Sept, Nov, (even DEC), Jan.

I think a few times for Oct.

go look on the tug board - there were a couple of people searching for DVC and any they found that weren't right for them (they were only looking for a 2-bedroom) - they posted.

this is a private BBS board so you have to be a member to get in to it.

if no one has posted anything - just ask for the month you want and any II members with desposited they haven't use will look for you. I LOVE that board - it got me my DVC exchange....

now if you can only have a 2-bedroom - those are few and very, very far between -but a studio or a 1-bedroom is definitely availability.

With DVC you do not need to pick the time you will go every year. You can go anytime you want just depending on your points you have. Unless you are talking about what month your use year is. I'm new to all this so maybe I misunderstood the question. We will have a September use year with 200 points. We can go any month we want. Our home will be Saratoga Springs Resort if all goes as planned. We sent out paperwork back 2 days ago.

You did misunderstand. The OP is trying to trade his/her inlaws' timeshare for a DVC timeshare through Interval. They don't own DVC themseleves.

BTW, I agree 100% with Carol.....September and January.

Hi - thanks for the replies. I do need a 2 BR b/c it will be my MIL, FIL, DH, myself, and our two boys 4 & 2. So those are harder to get? I know the whole idea may be a long shot - I'm just hoping it comes through. My inlaws have come with us the last two times and stay offsite at a timeshare, while we stay at a Disney resort. This time, my DH said "We stay with my parents or we don't go" Sooooo, just keeping my fingers crossed. Original date was the week of Feb. 12.

I think January and September are your best bet with May a close second along with early November.

Did you change the date? That week runs into Presidents' day weekend on the other end. It will be almost impossible to get a 2BR that week through II. But you never know.

What are you trading? You might have better luck doing a straight across trade with a current DVC member.

Good LUck!!! Not to be picky but Interval is not a timeshare. They are an exchange company. Just wanted to clear that up because many people in general are confused by that....

You didn't say what they're trying to trade? Is it a Disney-approved resort? If not it's a long shot, and a 2 br is also a long shot. They'd be better off renting or exchanging with a DVC owner, imo.

I'd say January through the first weekend that doesn't include President's Day, late August through September, May. I've seen OKW listings on II so it can be done...

If your husbands limitation is about family togetherness versus cost then maybe your in-laws can trade for what they can get and you guys can extend it with points or cash to a two bedroom.
