I am slooooow and I do mean slow, but today I manage a 14 minute mile. :lmao: I really want to be able to do the disney marathon or half marathon but my speed or lack there of has always seemed to be a major obstacle...slow but surely I have been working to increase it.

Great job - keep at it. You can do it!!! I did the 1/2 half Disney in 2005 and let me tell you - It makes you feel like you can conquer the world afterwards :)

Ok, I just have to congratulate you on your "speediness!" I don't know how fast you think you should be, but I'd be mighty proud to travel that fast so quickly! I do the events at a slower pace than that which you first posted.

Do be careful to not get going to fast too quickly. I don't want to be reading that you've injured yourself during this wonderful process you are enjoying.

You rock!

I think I would like to get to a consistent 10 minute ile. Not a speed demon by any means. I definitely have picked up speed, mostly because I am not carrying around as much as I used to ;) my average speed tho tends to be between 13' 30" to 15' 30" or so depending on how far I go for. I want to increase my endurance as well. Guess one step at a time.

Way to go - Speed will come with time - Endurance will increase so your speed will increase...
I started running 3 mths ago and was at a 15 min 1 mile pace and now I can do 3-5 miles at a 9-10 min pace.. I am working on distance endurance and the speed is just improving with it. I also try not to increase more than 10% (distance) each week to try and avoid injuries.

The important this is that you are out there running - the rest is just the icing on the cake.

Great Job!! I know how you feel. We started about 2 weeks ago training for a 5K that we did yesterday. We started having about a 18-19 min mile and by the race yesterday it was about a 16 min mile. We walked/jogged. I am going to start the c25k today in order to run a 5k Aug 1st! I also would like to get about a 10 min mile.

Good Luck!!:)
