I have a homemade crumbly breading that I also use with chicken and I learned that a great way to make the breading stick is with mayonnaise. So now when I make Shake n Bake (tonight) or my own, I brush mayonnaise on the chicken or pork and then add the coating - so good!
That’s my little tidbit for today - LOL!
Had not used shake n bake since the early 90s until a few months ago I picked up some and did chicken breasts with it. Yeah, I know it's salty, but it was pretty good and required almost no thought (like mixing up my own panko crumbs and seasoning would have). The box was a 2-pack, so we'll be having it at least one more time.
I make shake and bake (original only) pork chops every once in awhile when I want an easy dinner. It’s usually accompanied by some frozen vegetables and boxed noodles too. Which is usually not how I make dinner but sometimes you just want easy/no thought meals.
I will use the Kroger brand every now and then. Very yummy on homemade chicken fingers in the air fryer. It is also good on air fryer fish for fish tacos.
Never had it. That commercial is now ringing in my head ! ack !! Rather BBQ or just ad-hoc seasoning when I cook, bake, saute, etc......whatever I'm in the mood for.
Thanks for reminding me about this stuff. It makes very good pork chops. Great to have in the pantry. And it’s such a light breading, and baked, that I don’t feel it’s a nutritional disaster.
