The only sandwich I use mayo on the bread is turkey after thanksgiving. I use a light amount both pieces of bread. I do use some in egg or tuna salad.

I feel a rant coming on. I absolutely cannot stand it when some one tells me what I should or should not put on my sandwich. Mustard, Mayo, Ketchup, butter, relish, whatever - it is my decision no one else's. Being from Chicago land area it seems there are those who think it a crime to put Ketchup on hot dogs--give me a break. I know this has nothing to do with the title of this thread, but I had to say it. Ok, rant over.

I gotta laugh because I’m from the Chicago area and I’m always getting razzed about how I put ketchup on my hotdog - I love it! Sometimes people look at me like I have 3 heads when I order a hotdog with ketchup - it always makes me laugh.

My mother once made a chocolate cake with mayonnaise, but made the fatal mistake of telling my father about the ingredients.

“I’m not eating that (crap)!!” He used a worse word.

What did he think mayo is? Mostly oil and eggs, standard ingredients in many cakes.
We had Mayonaisse Cake a lot as a kid. It was popular......very moist.

I have a recipe for this that I’m going to try soon - it’s supposed to be very good:goodvibes

I like Mayo so much that I make it. We have free-range hens. One egg yolk, one egg, 14g vinegar, 10g brown mustard, stick blend in one cup of avocado oil. I try to avoid Soybean oil.

More than once in my life I've been caught adding mayo to a premade (egg, chicken, etc) salad sandwich and told "there is already mayo in it". I just innocently say, "Oh".

Very rarely do I use mayo on a sandwich. When I do it is not on the bread at all but on top of the the turkey/cheese/veggies.

No mayonnaise (or any kind of variation) EVER for me.

And, if I know something has mayo in it, I won’t eat it.

No, no, no, no, no! No condiments on a sandwich at all. No slimy sandwiches or gross stuff dripping out. I like meat and cheese, maybe a slice of tomato or a leaf of lettuce occasionally, but I can’t stand the look or feel of condiments on a sandwich. :scared:

I voted other as it depends on the sandwich.
If it’s a fresh tomato sandwich with red ripe yummy summer tomatoes the bread is toasted and both pieces slathered with Mayo. But if it’s a bologna sandwich, no Mayo, mustard only. Other sandwiches usually one slice of bread has a thin spread of Mayo, the other slice has mustard.

I’ve made chocolate mayo cake several times. The recipe was cut from a magazine and taped into a notebook my mother compiled. She also had a notebook of hand written recipes, some her own, some from others.

My beer chugging aunt contributed a recipe for spaghetti sauce. It has College Inn chicken broth in it and is very good.

Try the mayonnaise cake. It’s very moist and delicious. There are probably similar recipes online.

I don’t put ketchup on franks, but my daughters love it.

My rant is that I haven’t been able to find that nuclear green relish locally for a long time. There is no natural substance on earth that radiates such isotopes.

I suppose I could order it online.

The last time I was in Chicago I smuggled a jar in my carry on bag. Either TSA missed it or it’s OK to transport by air.

I love mayo and generally prefer Hellmann's, although I recently tried Duke's and I liked it as much as Hellmann's. Mayo is a must for me on turkey sandwiches.

@RedAngie, there's a new hot dog place near us and my son and I went there this past weekend. He had one of those Chicago dogs with that nuclear green relish on it. :-)

I like mayo but not Miracle Whip, or at least I didn't as a kid. I haven't had it since 😜. I only put it one slice of bread, doesn't matter if it's top or bottom, but if I'm packing a sandwich for lunch I don't put it on the bread at all, I put it between two items, like the meat and the lettuce, so the bread doesn't get as soggy.

Light amount with low cal Mayo. My fav on a turkey sandwich with all the fixin’s

I do use Mayo, as in some casseroles, or in potato salad, but not on any sandwiches.

Only on bologna sandwiches. White bread, mayo on half, mustard on half. I don't normally eat bologna sandwiches, but sometimes I get a craving.
