I LOVE firework shows. We are blessed with a view and a deck that can see miles of shows on the horizon. Our city doesn’t allow fireworks, but puts on its own spectacular professional show and we have a front row seat. 🇺🇸🎆🎇🧨

Isn't it THURSDAY 7/3?? I get screwed up enough on days of the week @slo :).

Local fireworks on the 4th for us!
LOL!
I fixed it. We’ll blame it on not enough coffee yet when I posted it :surfweb:

I don’t go anywhere because I can see the fireworks at Magic Kingdom from my driveway. We don’t have a local fireworks show in my town, but when I was growing up we did. There was a huge field behind the local mall where they set them off, and plenty of parking in the mall lot so it never felt crowded.

It’s supposed to be rainy here this weekend, so I am hoping that keeps the neighbors from shooting them off. I have a vacant lot to one side that they always seem to aim for and I spend the entire evening hoping my house is not set on fire.

I can take or leave fireworks shows for myself, but I am glad for others that they have them. I do wish people would stop doing fireworks in the neighborhoods, though, or at least only do them on the 4th. Trying to manage my dog's stress for three to four weeks every year is not fun (which is how long people do them here). We have tried everything and finally resorted to meds which unfortunately she cannot tolerate. We spend the fourth in the basement playing Disney movies loud enough to try to distract her from our multiple neighbors shooting off the large box fireworks all around us. She has to wear a cone because she stress licks one of her paws raw if we don't. We have to pull my car into the driveway and play music to get her to go outside and do her business. I hate this time of year.

No interest in local fireworks. WDW fireworks are excellent, but if we're getting up for rope drop the next morning I opt out.:)

I haven't been to local fireworks displays for years, although over here we tend to only do them for bonfire night and sometimes NYE. A lot of the shows have dropped off as well due to covid and to the high amounts it usually costs councils and organisations to put them on.

I do like fireworks when done properly (ala WDW), but most shows over here are pretty poor and pale in comparison when you've been spoilt by Disney. Also not a fan due to how they affect animals and pets, and really wish that noiseless fireworks would catch on more or that they'd ban the noisy ones completely.

I don't like them. I have sensory issues, especially with sound, and it is rough during the 4th. Luckily my apartment faces an interior courtyard so it is really muffled. I also don't like them because of how hard it can be for some many people and animals.

Why fight the sweaty local crowds? I'll relax and have ResortTV1 send the Epcot and Magic Kingdom shows right to my TV at home!

The problem locally in recent years is, they don't do the 4th of July fireworks show in my community on July 4th anymore. They do them on the Saturday BEFORE........so the park district employees don't have to work on July 4th. A friend of mine who is head of the park and recreation department of another city finds that hilarious. She says, you KNOW you are going to have to work on a lot of holidays when you work for a park district, it just comes with the job. And the park district residents, who pay for the fireworks, ARE off on July 4th and expect a fireworks show on that day.
This year it has been canceled, again. Covid canceled it for two years. This year they are doing construction at the community center........well.....they are supposed to be doing them, but last I looked they had not started yet, so we COULD have had a fireworks show.

In case you didn’t see….theyre having 2 streams today.
Do you ever go on the chat when they are live?
If you do and you see me, please say HI - I’m slo on there too.

I’ll catch the evening stream at 6 tonight. I’ll look for you -usually I have it on while I’m doing something else so it’s hard to follow that chat -especially with 2500+ hoppers on board! Have a great 4th slo! 💥

I love fireworks (professionally produced shows) but rarely go to them. The crowds are huge, traffic crazy, and parking is impossible. I've also stopped going to the shows in MK. There are just too many people jam-packed, shoulder to shoulder, on Main St. for me to find it an enjoyable experience.

I go sometimes. Most often I stay a little off the beaten path from where they are actually occurring so it is at least a little less crowded, and it is a much quicker escape afterwards, especially if I get there via bicycle!

Pretty funny...I just went to the town website (next town over) to see when their fireworks are. They are over one of the lakes that is 1.5 miles away. We planned to watch them from the hot tub over the trees and then cook marshmallows.

They were LAST Saturday June 28????????? WTH???????? Only in New Hampshire LOL! :bored:

I'm not a fireworks fan, so I don't go out my way to go to shows. I was visiting Montreal many years ago while they were hosting an international fireworks competition and did go to watch some of those shows, but rarely go at home. My town has professional fireworks every Thursday night during the summer. I've been once, and I'll admit it's kind of pretty to watch them over the beach and water, but still not my thing.

Many years ago our city started what they called "Old-Fashioned 3rd of July Celebration". Mostly because when they decided to actually do a fireworks show for 4th of July they found it extremely expensive and (because they were looking into it really late) everyone was already booked. It's been going on for 20 years. That said, the powers that be have decided that our city is now in "financial straits" and have "postponed" the Old-Fashioned 3rd Celebration this year. :sad2:

I love going to fireworks shows. We saw one a couple of nights ago while on an Alaskan cruise for Canada Day. One of the towns we passed that evening had an super long (like 1/2 hour) show.
