Junk Drawers - I think it’s safe to say we all have one somewhere in our home. It might be even safe to say that many of us have more than one. So….lets talk junk today…..

Do you have a junk drawer in your home?
If yes…..how many?
(multiple choice)

*Bonus for those that post 5 things in your junk drawer(s).

For Me…..We have 3 junk drawers in our home. One in the kitchen, I have one in my bedroom dresser and DD20 has one in her bedroom dresser. My DH’s entire office in the basement is like one big junk drawer, but we’re not discussing that today - LOL!

Below ⬇️ is the junk drawer in our kitchen. It has some keys to our parents cars, tools, some chip clips are hidden in there somewhere and some tools. This drawer is a disaster and needs to be gone through this winter or a rainy day. This is 85% DH’s stuff and 15% family stuff.

For those that say they have no junk drawers, I’m going to say right now, I’m really impressed. I’m an incredibly organized person, but I still need a junk drawer.

Yes, I have a junk drawer. I do organize it once in awhile.

Your picture, Slo, reminds me more of some of the areas in my DH's mancave! Teeth:

We have one in the kitchen. But DH has one in his desk with pens, scissors, staple pullers, rulers, and odd what not. So mostly office type stuff.

I have a junk area......wait, let me explain. Sunday school teacherfor 20 years and a flock of grandkids. That aisle at dollar tree with crafts and school supplies......I have that. Paints, various glues (dots, sticks, liquid) pom poms, popscicle sticks, balloons, wood shapes, and a million other things. Most of it in in bins, but....... All those things that you need for projects. You need 8 but only comes in a pack of 50. And then of course 8 months later, who remember if you have googly eyes or purple pipe cleaners, so you buy more.

We have plenty of junk, but only a couple of drawers and they're both in the kitchen. One of kitchen drawers is more DW's domain while the other one is mine. I do straighten it out from time to time, but it doesn't take long for it to go back to a mess.

One of my top junk drawer items is a key ring that I have no idea which locks they open. Pretty sure there's a key to a car we no longer own on that ring.

I have junk drawers, but they are each specific to what they are holding....and somewhat organized.
One in the kitchen is the least organized. It has spatulas I don't use, but are cute or sentimental, herb grinder, salt and pepper wands that I don't use, cheese spreaders, lighter, extra scissors.

Oh heck yes I have junk draws !!!
One in the kitchen that’s my main junk drawer - it is full of things that I find throughout the house loose screws or did they come from they must go to something I’ll throw them in the junk so I figure out where they go / that’s nice that’s a nice rubber band I might need that into the junk / flashlight / ruler / tape measure / lighter / chalk / and 1000 other little things that I’ll be like where did I put that try checking the junk drawer and then when it gets to the point that I can hardly get it open I clean it out and some items go to… items that need to be super glued also go into junk draw - once I have enough I glue them all

Garage Junk draw - if I have not found a use for those loose screws nuts bolts Nails etc they now go to the garage junk drawer
Miscellaneous little tools that I use frequently old scissors that I don’t want to get rid of more tape measures you can never have too many flashlights you can never have too many of those either lighters matches etc

Bedroom junk draw - loose pens / paper from when I need to write a grocery list upstairs/ miscellaneous items I find upstairs that I don’t know where they go but I hold onto them because I’m figured they go somewhere to something so I throw them in the junk drawer upstairs so I can forget about them and wonder what happened to that item?? my apple product plug-ins that I may need someday / my portable charger that I know I have one that I forget to check and then tear my house up looking for / I can no longer get that drawer open it’s like Christmas finding all the stuff I shoved in there I’ve been looking for this🤣🤣🤣

My office desk at home - Band-Aids .Excedrin scissors tape Neosporin because I get paper cuts / gum/ my old phonebook you know the new handwrite phone numbers in / 1000 other little things - again clean it out when I can’t find something or it’s too full

My junk jars are fluid - items can float from one drawer to another depending on the item and my mood - this way I am constantly looking for something telling myself I know that was in the kitchen junk forgetting that I moved it to the garage junk draw - I’ve given myself a hobby to be looking for things nonstop 🤣🤣🤣

Edit - I also have junk draw for kitchen items - I may not use these items a lot or they may not be quite ready to be pitched so I throw them in the drawer and again when I can’t get the drawer open is when I clean it out and again it’s like Christmas I’ve been looking for this!! I need to stop doing this

I don't have any junk drawers. I have several drawers with a theme, or themes, where things go. But there isn't one drawer that collects random things that I don't know what to do with.

Our main junk drawer is in the kitchen, and it really is just a catch-all! I just peeked in there, and we have refrigerator magnets, old twist ties (WHY?!?!), pens and pencils, a few business cards, and so much more. I think I just found a job for myself today...this thing needs to be dealt with! LOL!
My sock drawer in my dresser is also a bit of a junk drawer. I have some change, little cards my kids made me, random earring backs...just odds and ends. But, it's nothing like the disaster our kitchen junk drawer is!

:lovestruc I currently have two junk drawers and they are my dream junk drawers - large and deep like kitchen pot drawers. One is mostly hand tools, batteries, random electronics and manuals for things and the other is OTC meds, glue and tape, and paper and pens, with whatever needs to be shoved away on short notice sitting on top.

The kitchen junk drawer has multiple rolls of tape (why we need so much tape I don't know), multiple pairs of scissors, letter openers, labelers, rubber bands, assorted loose screws (no idea where these came from) and goodness knows whatever else is in there.

This house isn’t big on drawers. It’s more of a cabinet sort of thing, which doesn’t lend itself to junk accumulation. We have a few tables that see some of the junk, but that’s about it.

We have 4. We’re a family of 7 so we accumulate a lot of junk. Two in the kitchen, one in family room, one in the desk in the den. There’s no rhyme or reason to what’s in them. All hold various small tools, extra keys, tape etc so when we’re looking for something we have to check each drawer, which is annoying. We also have a large junk closet which is like a junk drawer but for bigger things (but small enough to not go in the garage or basement). One of these days I’ll organize and consolidate all of them.

Well, I have three drawers that are disorganized to look at, but have specific things in them. So I am not sure if they count as junk drawers. One is in the kitchen, and has all the very rarely used kitchen items in it. One is in the living room, and is where the extra batteries, spare remotes, and extra phone chargers are stored, and one is in the bedroom, and has costume jewelry and hair accessories in it. If you open any one of the three, it looks like a typical junk drawer, but nothing random goes into the drawer.

Okay. So we have always had a designated junk drawer in the kitchen. It's already started in our new home (the SMALLEST drawer, fortunately). It's more a miscellany drawer -- a couple of screwdrivers, tape measure, etc.

I answered "Other." I have a china cabinet with drawers that belonged to my grandmother. She was a complete packrat and would do what FlyLady calls "stash and dash" when people came over. My grandmother's spirit LIVES in that china cabinet. The drawers could be completely empty one week, and the next be completely full of STUFF. Gonna try to keep it neater in our new home, but, well, Grandma.

My junk drawers are semi-organized with small plastic dividers, but they still sometimes get messy.

Junk drawers in kitchen, DH’s office, laundry room, garage. I also have a fabric sided bin in the bedroom to store miscellaneous things before they get put back in their correct locations.
