Mine was mediocre. I had radiation treatments for my stage 4 cancer. Met a new Dr. who I have nicknamed Dr. doom and gloom. Other dr. I see was more optimistic. Now I am having skin issues from the radiation.
Good - celebrated middle ds bday with a fun take out dinner.
Had my new home physical therapist say his last visit is tomorrow.
The rest of the year is no clue. I’m leaving that up to God at this point.
:flower3: Grace and peace and I wish you the best possible outcome, with plenty of support and comfort along the way.

It's been meh. January is always the worst month of the year, though. Cold, snowy, post-holiday and general seasonal depression in full swing. My car failed inspection and needs another almost $1k dumped into it.

Our January was bad for the most part. My father-in-law passed away the 22nd. Bad, and sad, but a relief in a way as he had a massive stroke and brain bleed 15 months ago. He had 2 more strokes, and broke a hip last September too. His quality of life was poor, even though he made great progress from the first stroke. He couldn’t speak or move the right side of his body. He worked hard in physical therapy and regained his speech, ability to feed himself and walk using the aid of a walker. His main goal was to be able to be in the same assisted living facility where his wife (2nd wife) was, and that was achieved. His death still came as a surprise though, as he had been doing okay.

We also had a major snowstorm and arctic weather for a couple of weeks.

January began at Disney World celebrating our 29th anniversary and it seems like an age ago already. It has been a really good month focused on our goals as we are moving into the last few years before retirement. It is a slow month with my work so I am fighting the usual seasonal depression with work outs at the gym, hot yoga classes and reading lots of books. I think it is going to be a good year and I am looking forward to it.

We need a "care" emoji. That sounds tough MIgrandma I wish you a better February.

It was a good month overall. Been dealing with some issues with my aging parents, but otherwise, nothing else notable. Was nice having our younger son home most of the month as he didn't start spring semester of college until this past Monday.

Good wishes and hugs to all those who have had a tough January, be it health (the most important), financial or the myriad of other issues we all seem to deal with at one time or another. And likewise, for those continuing to have tough times ahead.'s

For us, I picked the 'good' for both January as well as the rest of the year. So far it's been relatively uneventful.

One grandson, Griffin, had an emergency appendectomy a couple weeks ago, did well, went home in less than 12 hours and is back in school. His mom, my daughter-in-law, Katlyn, had knee surgery yesterday, went home late yesterday. Off work for the month ahead, but doing well. Marie and I are going there today, Marie will stay there for 2 or 3 days to help with the grandkids, school and whatever, through the weekend,.

The political divisiveness continues as it has for the past 9 years, and will continue over the months ahead. January started my 4th year of retirement.

We had one week or so of bitterly cold weather about 2 weeks ago, but currently are enjoying above normal temperatures for January in Chicago, albeit so darn cloudy, as is normal, day after day. The slightly above average amount of snowfall for the season, 21 inches so far, fell mostly in January. However, other than in shopping mall parking lots and such, most is now melted with our above average temperatures. The daylight hours are getting longer, always a welcome sign of better things to come.

As Steve @The Mayor said above, "I always say that everyday on the right side of the lawn is a good day!!" With my 80th coming up this summer, I'll echo that thought. And my 25th here on the dis will be in March. :faint:

Again, my best for all those hurting, physical, mental, financial, personal, family.'s

It was fine -- felt super long. I'd say mediocre; hoping the rest of the year will be good!

Make that $2k. It's in the shop today and they found more stuff wrong.

I'm sorry to hear that your family member got bad news... but yay for your new insurance kicking in.
Thank you and definitely yay for the insurance - not having any has been weighing heavily on me.

I hope your February is better than your January :wizard:

Meh. My back went out twice this month. Still trying to recover the second time. Daughter has a college tour this Friday and not sure how that will work for me. Stressing out about the college process in general. Waiting on word from FAFSA. I try to think more positive, thing could be worse. I know we're blessed.
The college process is stressful ::yes:: Now that my DD20 is settled in this college, I’m starting to stress about grad school, so I definitely understand. Good luck with everything 🍀

I hope your back feels better soon :wizard:

It was ok. January always seems soooo long. We are on day 10 of ZERO sun here, and it is getting old. I think we may get to see it tomorrow.
I hear ya…..it’s been awful.
My weather channel app said sun for today and nope….still cloudy

@Dan Murphy Isn't it crazy how quickly the years add up/fly by?

January was... whatever. High point was that DH and I spent 4 nights in NOLA visiting my sister and BIL, then off to Disney for 4 nights at Coronado Springs. Not a park trip, just a rest-and-recuperate from the semester/holidays, and gearing up for this semester. A surprise while in FL was that DH's brother and SIL were renting a house in Jensen Beach, so we had the chance to spend a day with them. Haven't seen them in 3+ years, so it was definitely nice. Other than that... life at home has been hectic and unsettled, and of course the semester started. The older I get (67 and a half right now), the more tired I am at the end of the day. Retirement looks better and better, but it's going to be at least another 18 months, maybe all the way to 70. My knee rehab has hit a wall and I'm off to see the surgeon (MRI is done, xrays will happen) on Friday to see what is up. DH's shoulder rehab is going well but he is frustrated by not being able to shovel, take out trash, etc. I mean... we are fine, nothing to really complain about. The political discourse in this country is driving my anxiety through the roof, we are out $4K for tree removal from a storm (insurance will cover it- "the check is in the mail" but I had to pay the tree guys), and our old cars are doing what old cars do ($$). I also think the endless grey skies are sapping my energy and outlook. Nothing much planned for 2024 except a week at a beach cottage in August (and August feels like a long time off). As I said, just life-crap, and we are on the right side of the soil...

Celebrated a birthday a couple of days ago. Went to WDW theme parks earlier this month after a 5 year hiatus. Bought a Pixie Dust AP and used it even with the "new to me" reservation system. Rode Rise of the Resistance even though it was in C-mode. Talked middle-aged self into riding Tron on the back car; I had a blast!

Changed my riding mower blades after almost 10 years due to fear and low-confidence I could do it (thanks YouTube!). Cleaned out my garage yesterday and now have to take the unused old paint cans to the recycle center after I take pictures of the formulas on the top of each can.

A good month for sure.
Happy Belated Birthday :bday:

Mediocre-to-bad, so I'll be happy for February. At least there's more sun!

Oh no….that is not a good way to end the month.
I’m sorry to hear this
