Lice - Ew! Ew! & Ew!!

Have you ever had it or someone in your home have it?
(multiple choice)

*For those that don’t know…..lice does not = dirty
They love a clean head as much as they like a not so clean head

For Me…..Thank God - No
I honestly don’t know how my girls or me have been able to avoid them - we all have been around kids that had them in school. I guess we are just lucky. Hopefully we stay lucky :wizard:
(@piglet1805 - don’t be putting on other people‘s hats when in college or let them borrow yours - you can get lice at any age).

*Inspiration for today’s poll is me seeing a story on the news about lice running rampant through a school

Being a substitute teacher for 34 years I was very much aware of lice but fortunately never got it. Did do the treatment one time just to make sure.

OMG dealt with it more times than I care to talk about thanks to certain child at daycare who’s mother slipped extra cash to owners to turn blind eye until I threatened legal action - it was THAT bad !! Nasty treatment doing whole house and my poor kid time and time again - had to chop off her long hair - we are blessed with super thick hair - other DD has super thick curly hair - try running lice comb thru that hair ! UGH - don’t miss those days ! Got better once that situation stopped and don’t believe I dealt with it in school - if so maybe once
I was lucky when I was in school - I never had it and got lucky I never got it from my kids - but just the thought of it makes your head itch - it’s very easy to catch so it’s amazing you don’t get it

No, not yet anyways. I would start scratching as soon as one of my kids brought home the dreaded letter from the school saying someone in the class had it. I think bedbugs might be worse though.

I had lice once, in 1st or 2nd grade. I had LOOOONG hair, almost to my butt. My poor mom was frantic. We had those lice checks at school, in the nurses office, and there was a bit of an outbreak in my classroom.

I’ve had it more than once- twice..that I can remember.

Having four kids at the same school (me and my siblings), but different grades meant a lot of exposure when it went around.

When my daughter was a toddler, probably about 2, there was a lice outbreak at her daycare. She got them, not badly (I only found a couple on her head) and I was able to handle it quickly. But dang, I was so mad.

There was this little boy (also about 2), with really thick, curly, untrimmed hair. His mom didn't really take care of him. Whelp, he got lice, like crawling, head-full, no way you shouldn't notice this. Whelp his mom didn't notice. He gave them to all the other toddlers. The daycare lady told us all, sent him home. His mom brings him back next day saying they're dealt with. Nope. Still crawling. So everybody else has to check their kids again. Grrrr.

Anyway, I found olive oil, Nix, a lice comb and lots of hot laundry washing handled it. It never spread to anyone else in the house.

Definitely freaked me out and gave me the creepy crawlies.

Never had lice.
DH never had lice
DS never had lice
DD never had lice....I think she has caught almost everything else from students.
So far DGD and DGS have not had lice. They are still in school, so we'll see

I remember having the checks in school, but I never had them. There were always a couple of kids sent home due to it though. I still really don't even know where they come from.

Two of my daughters, a few times. The PTO purchased a huge lighted magnifying glass and they started regular checks, and implemented a no nit policy and it finally got better (the problem was parents were just treating and not combing). Lots of braids, fairy tales spray and hair spray those years.

Not really sure. We had a couple of scares when they were in elementary and middle schools, but I treated the kids as soon as I was notified and nothing ever happened.

I agree bed bugs much worse ! Thank God no on those - maybe that could be tomorrows poll ?? Creepy theme going for Halloween ?? We can go thru bugs and then move on to other gore !! 👍 🤣🤣 but then again I have warped sense of humor 🤣🤣🤣

Did @slo just jinx us all today?
I'd rather deal with lice than bed bugs. See sliver lining in everything.....still ewwwwww

My kids never had an issue it all the years of school. summer camps, sleep overs, etc.

DD had a foster child come with them. We found a electric comb that zaps them.
