Riding on a motorcycle is a great mode of transportation for those that enjoy it. Some people ride short distances around town and some like to take long rode trips. Every weekend, except when it’s really cold out, I see people taking motorcycle riding lessons in a movie theater parking lot, and there’s always several people throughout the day. On Saturday, when we saw Lilo & Stitch, the lessons were still going on and I started wondering how many of you all have done those lessons and ride motorcycles. Let’s talk motorcycles today and let us know……

Do you own a motorcycle?
If yes…..did you take motorcycle riding lessons?
Do you ride your motorcycle around town or on long road trips?

For Me……I’ve never been on a motorcycle to drive it (does one drive a motorcycle ?) or a passenger. I gotta tell you all, being on one scares me a lot. I do not trust all the other car drivers and would be so nervous about getting run into by a car, especially now with the distraction of cell phones. Am I paranoid about this? Yes, yes I am So I’ll just keep my butt in a car

I was a passenger on a motorcycle for a quick trip around the block when I was in my 20's. It was too scary for me. I never want to ride one again.

I am not a motorcycle fan.

I do know a couple of people who have them, though, and I know at least one of them took lessons. (In addition to just being a good idea, believe it got him a pretty big discount on his insurance.)

Hard no for me - the risk/reward proposition just isn’t there. My BFF’s husband fulfilled one of his dreams by getting a Honda Goldwing during Covid. He loves it so much that she has given in and rides as a passenger; they sometimes go for hundreds of miles when the weather allows. That’s commitment.

Been a passenger on one more times than I can count in my youth I do not own one nor would I allow anybody in my family to get one it was a constant source of an argument with my now ex they’re just too dangerous cars do not pay attention to them I never one of my kids on one and I had a DD who’s boyfriend had one so I knew darn good and well she was on even though she told me she wasn’t I can’t tell you how many times he had accidents on it
Would I get on one now nope did I enjoy it when I was younger yes I did

Yup - this is me too. A guy my sister knew offered to take me around the block just to see. I think I was like 18 at the time. I HATED it. It felt so insecure. I felt the same way when my sister's eventual husband took me up in a helicopter (he was a pilot). Man, I hate those things!

I do not own a motorcycle. I kind of find them terrifying. It's scary enough being on the streets in a car, let alone on something like that. I have ridden on the back of one before, like when I was a teenager. My aunt's boyfriend had one, and I somehow agreed to let him take me on a short ride (in a small town). It may be fun for most, I was mostly just scared That was a loooong time ago, and I have no intentions of ever getting on one again.

I do not now, and never have, owned a motorcycle. However, I rode on the back of LOTS of bikes in the early 70s, when I was in high school and then in college. I loved it- the freedom, the speed, the wind in my face. Hugging up to the guys of my interest at the time was also part of it, I'm sure! We always wore helmets but that was the extent of the safety precautions. I guess I was in that teen denial that "it can't happen to me" to recognize all the dangers. Would I ride again today, now that I am pushing 70? Maybe...!

I don’t own a motorcycle and have never been on one. I have never been a fan of them. Our daughter is a neuro ICU nurse and in her short time working as a nurse, has seen many patients involved in motorcycle accidents. Many are heartbreaking.

Always wanted one in my teen years, folks never let me, thankfully. Don't recall riding on one either.

The abbreviated and verbally edited stories of motorcycle accidents that my parameduc/firefighter son Vince has been on over the years certainly quells any remote desire I might have remaining. I always shudder when I'm doing 75 or so on the tollway or expressway and a nut on a crotch rocket sails past me, weaving in and out of traffic, doing at least 100. I always expect to see the rider smeared on the pavement some miles ahead. So far, thankfully, I have not seen that.

I don't recall ever being on a motorcycle. Took a cousin's motor scooter for a spin once, but that's about it. No real desire to be on one either.

Nope on driving one, nope on riding as a passenger. In fact, I don’t think I have even known someone who knew someone who had a motorcycle. The other drivers are far too careless here for them to be safe.

Never ridden one, no desire to. They just seem like death traps to me.

I saw a guy on one last week doing 80 on the highway with no helmet or protective gear, not even long sleeves. Insane.

According to my driver's license I am a designated organ donor, but I'm in no hurry to expedite that procedure. Also I have a beverage here, no lid, so I'd be endangering that on a bumpy motorcycle ride.

When I was a teen, I was a passenger but not anymore. The panic attacks are bad enough in car, a motorcycle would be much worse.

Not a fan of motorcycles myself, they scare me. That being said I was able to take a ride that most folks dream of. We were stationed in Germany with the Army and the night before returning to the US my dear friend's husband offered me a ride on his Harley Fatboy. I knew it was a once in a lifetime opportunity so I took it. We hit the Autobahn and rode to the next exit (ausfahrt if memory serves me correctly) then returned. I was very scared but I'm so HAPPY I took the ride even if i had my eyes closed most of the ride. That was back in1996, can't believe it was almost 30 years ago!!!

I rode on one once when I was a young teen- my brother’s friend took me for a ride around the neighborhood. My husband has 2 motorcycles and only rides them midday during the week when there are less aggressive drivers on the road. Sometimes, he’ll take the ferry to Connecticut and take a long ride, which he loves. I have absolutely no interest in riding one myself or as a passenger. My FIL owns 5, he was a motorcycle cop and loves riding. When DH and his dad visit each other they ride together.
