Yucky poll today - sorry

How many times have you pulled a tick off you?
Did you pull it off or did someone else?
(multiple choice)

For Me…..I’ve pulled two off myself twice and many times I felt one crawling on my arm and then I brushed it off. They are awful - I hate hate hate them! When I’m doing yard work and planting I’m always in jeans and have my head covered with a hat or bandana. Before my Sophie dog passed away, I pulled 5 off of her, and she was not an outdoor girl - she spent very little time outside. Yuck, yuck, yuck!

This was the tick I pulled off my Sophie dog 2 years ago. It was on my Facebook memories, which is what inspired this poll. This tick bite made her extremely sick - I didn’t think she’d pull through, but she did and was sadly never the same afterwards.

I agree - ticks are yucky!!

I have had 2 pulled off me - one I needed antibiotics for, and the other I didn't.

More than I care to discuss - most when I was a child - my neighbor had a lot of outside dogs I would play with and I got ticks from them / last one I got 30 yrs ago camping caught little devil before he could dig in !
My poor puppy has had two this year so far - blessing to Frontline did the job ! As the dog won’t let you near him long enough to do anything he’s too hyper !! He had one last year took me 1 1/2 hours to remove mainly wresting him to get at it ! It was on outside of his ear !
My little humans would get them going camping from going fishing - wading in tall grass - I hate these darn bugs

I despise ticks.
Both my kids have needed antibiotics due to tick bites.
Lyme disease scares me and now I avoid walks through the forest/long grass whenever possible.

{knocks on wood}

I’ve never had a tick on me that I can recall. I’ve never found one on our dog, either. I have read that they are very bad in our area this year.

How timely! I had 2 ticks at the lake this long weekend! Both i caught while still crawling on my leg.

How many in my lifetime between me, the dog and kids? Who knows . Usually one or two a year.

The amount of time I've spent outdoors in my life has made this a pretty common occurrence. Not so much now but often when I was younger.

Lots of camping and hiking when I was a kid in AZ. Lots of ticks there and have had several get on me. We would check each other at various times. Had to get several pulled out. Never got sick or needed any treatment though.

Over my whole life, probably more than 10. I live in a very woodsy area with tons of them around. The dogs pick up a bunch on every walk (they're on Simparica trio, so the ticks die quickly if they bite).

I highly recommend a tick spoon like this to get embedded ones off easily. Works on dogs and humans

None. Never had a tick on me. Never seen a tick and as far as I know no one I know has ever had one on them

Too many to count. It's scary how many there are out there and anything you do outdoors you have to be concerned about areas where ticks might be.

Never had one one me, that I know of - they’re supposedly not present in our region. But I do know people who suffer horribly, unto death, from chronic Lyme disease - which is very difficult to get properly diagnosed and treated in Canada. You’re right to be cautious. :scared:

Once. I had one on me when I was pregnant. It was a long time ago so I don’t remember if I took it off myself or not. Took some off our dogs when we had them.

No idea - a few times per year???? I've lived in the woods and/or on a farm just about my entire life and I'm outside a lot. Ticks are just a fact of life for us.

Unfortunately, there are lots of Lyme carrying, black-legged ticks in my area. The tick we pulled out of my daughters leg tested positive for Lyme, so we are super careful now, but still, they are hard to avoid.

I have never had a tick on me or known anyone personally who did. I haven’t lived in areas where they are prevalent.
