Many of our local Fireworks shows have been cancelled due to the current heatwave and associated high fire danger.

Haven’t been to an Independence Day fireworks show in many years. Saw fireworks on my Disneyland trip but didn’t wait for them. Planned on walking up for a spot but misjudged the wait for Rise and they started going as I was walking back to Main Street.
I'm sorry you're in a drought affected area. It's not be taken lightly. Be safe!
Personally, I would be so disappointed. I love the 4th of July and in 2020 when they were virtually no celebrations, I was just plain old sad and depressed!!

I've been to WDW this year so I saw, Happily Ever After, Enchantment, and Luminous, so that's three. As I have said before, Disney fireworks have pretty much ruined me for anything else, so I don't much care for local shows. I also very much don't care for firewroks at him - they make me nervious and I want no part of it.

haven't really 'been to' a show.

We were at MK during fireworks, but did not really stop to watch, just saw some while we were walking.

The National Harbor was shooting some off last night so we stood outside our front door and could see anything that went over tree level, which was quite a bit. (It's 3-4 miles away.)

Alexandria is shooting some off July 13 as part of its 275 birthday celebration. We will walk down to the waterfront to see those.

I went to Thunder over Louisville in April. It is the nation’s largest fireworks display. It is held two weeks before the Derby every year. This year about 600,000 attended. They do an air show during the day.

My bff has a house on the Ohio River (Indiana side) and has a party. She gives me a parking pass to get into her area. Otherwise, you are paying or walking a long distance. Honestly, I would not go without her having a party. Too many people and I want clean bathrooms.

It really is something to see though. Thirty minutes long, choreographed to music, fireworks “spill from one of the bridges (they close that bridge the day before) and a drone show.

I live 2 blocks from the Community Center where they do the community professional fireworks show, so we watch from our front lawn. There has been a bit of controversy here about the fireworks show since the pandemic. They canceled the show in 2020, and since 2021 they have been doing the show the SATURDAY before July 4th. So our fireworks show was LAST MONTH! The argument is, the park district staff deserve to have the holiday off. Well, my wife and I worked jobs our entire careers where holidays were never days off, just a regular work day. And my mom was an RN in a hospital so I grew up with my mom working all holidays that didn't fall on her regular day off were work days........older folks will remember before the "Monday Holiday Law" when holidays all fell on specific dates and were not shifted to Mondays to make three day weekends.
The community immediately next to us has a different idea. They do TWO community fireworks shows and community fair with food trucks and carnival rides, one on July 3rd, the second on July 4th.
I do feel sorry for people and pets who are afraid of fireworks, because what our community does spreads out the noise over nearly a week.

I was all set to pick that I had not gone to any professional fireworks shows, when I remembered I saw the Epcot show at WDW this past March. I don't think we were there for any of the MK fireworks. WE never seek out shows in our hometown, or nearby. Love fireworks, but don't love the hassle, parking, driving, etc.
We often buy fireworks to set off at home, they are legal in this county, outside of city limits, but haven't this year, or last few years, but neighbors have PLENTY!

I don't dislike fireworks in general (hello Disney), but I do NOT like "home" fireworks. Loud, obnoxious, dangerous and they scare the crap out of my cats. Even though I live in CA and we have "rules" about what kind of fireworks you can set off, just about everyone nowadays blows off the illegal ones that explode high up in the sky because there's really nothing law enforcement can do to stop it. So yeah, with the extremely hot, dry, wildfire-ready climate, 4th of July always sets me on edge. Not looking forward to tonight.

I did read we should start getting more drone shows soon and I’m excited to see those.
Me too! I love fireworks, but worry about animals being frightened. Plus, the precision with drones is awesome!

We were at Disney this past Saturday-Tuesday and saw the Magic Kingdom fireworks twice—once from the park and once from the Bay Lake Tower roof. We are at the beach now and will see them here. At home we have great professional fireworks. We have often gone but now have a dog that is terrified. I prefer to stay home with her. I have a neighbor staying at our house with dog while we are away. She knows to drug her, thundershirt her and take her to the basement game room if necessary. This trip made logistical sense based on some other things going on, but I would rather be home with the dog.

We will see fireworks again in a few weeks at a baseball game in our city. They are usually pretty good.

We have been to at least 6 WDW fireworks shows this year so far. Yesterday from our balcony at BLT!

A little bit of fireworks goes a long way for me. 15 seconds worth when the home baseball team wins, cool.

But I’m no longer interested in watching long displays. Been there, did that, too many times. Yawn.

We attended the Lake Havasu Winter Blast Fireworks Expo this year. There's fireworks for 4 nights and one night of pre-testing. That's a lot of fireworks.

Good friends of ours have a party every year and they have some. If it stays hot, I watch/listen from inside their house.

No, no professional fireworks this year. We are supposed to have thunderstorms tonight about show time, so most towns in the area have rescheduled. :confused3 I did buy sparklers though.:wizard:

I'm actually really afraid of fireworks, especially if they seem like they're right over my head. When we go to WDW, my sister goes to watch all the fireworks from as close as she can get while I wait on a bench somewhere else for them to be over. I don't know where I got this fear, but I've had it as long as I can remember.

years ago, during a drought, we had neighbor kids setting off whatever shoots up and lands elsewhere. We were out at bible study and come home in time to see the fire department wrapping up hoses. It's turns out ok, don't worry. Turns out, one of those thingies fell into our yard, set the dead grass on fire. Neighbor kid (not the one with the fireworks) tells his mom, Mr, H has smoke in his yard. Mom , says, that's ok. they are probably having a cook out. Kid says it's a lot of smoke, then she looks and calls fire department. We come home and a circle of burnt grass about 18 ft across is now in our yard.

I mean, not happy with the burnt grass, but no damage to house.

I did go last night, on July 4. There was a chance of some rain, but it ended up not interfering with the fireworks show.

I have seen plenty of fireworks shows live in the past... this year just watched them on TV. Having to get up and go to work today kind of makes it hard for old people like me to stay out late the night before. :rotfl2:

Depends on what you call "professional fireworks show" I've been to WDW this year so saw the MK and Epcot fws, if that counts. I no longer go to the local ones, they are too crowded and our nearest town actually doesn't have them any more so I'd have to go to Atlanta. You couldn't pay me enough money to do that. People in our neighborhood set them off at any occasion they can make an excuse for but we don't watch them. We are too busy holding and comforting our poor terrified dog. We have never bought any nor will we ever. My thoughts on neighborhood fireworks are very unpopular. I don't think they should happen. We have a number of dogs in our neighborhood, I'm going to guess every other home out of 100. Most are not happy with fireworks. We also have at least 3 veterans, one who served and was wounded in Viet Nam and lay in a field bleeding for a while before he could be picked up. Fireworks are not good for him. I know my Daddy, who served in WWII in the Navy off an aircraft carrier and had his plane shot down, would literally duck and cover whenever he heard a loud boom. It's all well and proper to have them in public places where one can decide to attend or not, but to have them going off next door to you when you have no choice, nope.
