When I see pictures of things I used to play with, I get flooded with wonderful memories. I often wonder what wonderful memories today’s children will have, in regards to toys. When my girls were little, I had an away bag with items they only enjoyed when we were away (a Magic Slate, which is what the below picture is called, was in their bag). Today’s kids get their parents phone, iPad or their own iPad. When patients come into our office, the first thing they do with their kids is hand them their phone, unless the child brings in their own iPad. Almost never do I see I child look at a children’s book, carry a doll or truck and etc - it’s kinda sad. They get a phone with the volume loud enough for everyone in the office to hear what they are watching, and their parents are just fine with everyone listening to their child’s cartoon show
This poll isn’t about that though, this poll is about the Magic Slate. So let’s find out today who has enjoyed this fun toy. Give us your magically written answer today…..
Did you have a Magic Slate when you were a child?
If you have children, did you buy them for your child(ren)?
(multiple choice)
For Me……Yes, I played with them and so did my kids. My parents took road trips for our vacations, we never flew, so the magic slate was always something I had in the car. I remember taking them into restaurants to play Hangman (I loved playing Hangman with my parents or grandparents). I remember always wanting a new one if the theme of it was something I wanted. My kids did enjoy them too, but not as much as me, because restaurants had the children’s menus with crayons, so no need for it there and my girls loved to color, so they always had a coloring book with colored pencils.
